A.J. Brown (WR, TEN) - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups

Tennessee Titans wide receiver (WR) A.J. Brown is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 10 of the 2019 NFL season.

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 19% of Leagues

ANALYSISWhat a relief. After a great game in Week 7 (eight targets, six receptions, 64 yards) with Ryan Tannehill as the starter quarterback, A.J. Brown went on and upset his owners all around the nation being targeted just three times in Week 8 and could only save his horrid performance (two catches, 11 yards) thanks to the touchdown he finished scoring. Good for Brown’s believers, he was back to his better self in Week 9 against Carolina.

Don’t get overly hyped, though, as Brown is still who he is. His targets went back up to seven (second-highest mark of the season) and he caught four passes (also second-highest) but he couldn’t score this time. No matter what, he racked up 81 yards so he was able to finish the day with a palatable 12.1 fantasy points and led the Titans in receiving yardage while also logging the longest reception of the team at 35 yards. Even in his rookie season, Brown is currently out-performing veterans like Corey Davis and Adam Humphries in Tennessee and his average 9.6 fantasy points per game lead all Titans receivers through Week 9.

I’m of the opinion that Brown’s floor is not as low as his 1.4 or his couple of 4.3-4.7 performances this season suggest. I’m blaming it more on Tennessee’s attack and Marcus Mariota than on Brown’s true talent. Brown should give you around nine points per game and has shown a ceiling of up to 24.4 points (Week 4: three receptions, 94 yards, two scores), which I don’t think is far from what should be his average. He is a weekly 12-point player with high upside and definitely a must-add in any league to have in your bench and consider a starter in the Flex slot on good weekly matchups (pro-tip: Tennessee has one of the softest fantasy-playoffs schedules from Week 14 to Week 16 so add Brown now before it’s too late).
