Michael Lorenzen Hoping To Earn Starting Role In 2022
Michael Lorenzen is entering free agency this offseason. According to Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Lorenzen is seeking an opportunity with a team where he can compete for a starting role. He is reportedly eager to bet on himself and take a low-cost deal that's infused with incentives. The 29-year-old has spent the entirety of his seven-year MLB career with the Cincinnati Reds. He made 21 starts during his rookie year, but went on to make just five total starts over the following six years. This past year, he made 27 relief appearances and pitched to a 5.59 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. We'll see if any teams out there are willing to take a chance on him as a potential starter.
