Streaming hitters and pitchers to exploit matchups are important to help you win your league.

It is important to know your league if you're going to stream. I'm not just talking about which teams your leaguemates root for. I'm talking about whether strikeouts count against you for hitters or if fielding stats are included. Most importantly, you need to know how many transactions you have per week. You don't want to blow your allotment within a couple of days. You can also use these recommendations to help build your DFS lineups. This article will use rostered percentages and position eligibility from ESPN leagues.

We only have four pitchers going that are rostered in more than 90% of ESPN leagues. Six more are owned in more than half of leagues. That leaves us two thirds of the entire pitching field to choose from. As we have seen several times this year, quantity doesn't always mean quality. Is it more of the same today? We'll get to that after the hitters.

Hitter Streamers for 8/1 - Shallow Leagues

Kolten Wong (2B, LHB, MIL) - 47% Rostered

Matchup: at ATL RHP Charlie Morton

Wong has at least one hit in all but one of his 12 games since the break. He is hitting .327 in that span with a homer, four RBI, and 11 runs scored batting leadoff for Milwaukee with a pair of steals. Wong hit .350 in June before landing on the IL and didn't miss a beat when he came back. Wong hit .315 in July, but he has yet to rediscover his June power surge. It you need runs or average though, Wong is your man.

Cesar Hernandez (2B, RHB, CWS) - 43.8% Rostered

Matchup: vs. CLE RHP Cal Quantrill

Hernandez got to face his former team immediately after being traded and has four hits in ten tries against them. He only has one run to show for all that work, but Hernandez is still a guy that has sneaky power and will drive in some runs if given the chance. At the very least, he should be a boost to your average at the end of the week.

Jeimer Candelario (3B, RHB, DET) - 31.1% Rostered

Matchup: vs. BAL RHP Spenser Watkins

Candelario is riding a six-game hitting streak in which he is hitting .321 with five runs scored and four RBI. The Detroit offense had a good July and Candelario's stats reflected that. Candelario hit .309 with three of his seven homers and 14 of his 35 RBI in July alone. He is trending upward and facing a young Baltimore rotation and beleaguered bullpen.

Patrick Wisdom (1B/3B, RHB, CHC) - 29.8% Rostered

Matchup: at WAS RHP Erick Fedde

The cupboards are now bare in Wrigleyville, which means Wisdom goes from a fringe player in the Cubs lineup to an everyday player that occupies a slot in the middle of the order. Wisdom has responded with a six-game hitting streak in which he is hitting .381 with a pair of homers, four RBI, and five runs scored. He should be much higher owned than he is. His trajectory is just beginning a very sharp rise.

Hitter Streamers for 8/1 - Deeper Leagues

Kyle Farmer (2B/SS/3B, RHB, CIN) - 18.9% Rostered

Matchup: at NYM RHP Marcus Stroman

Few players on any team worldwide are hitting like Farmer is right now. Farmer is hitting a blistering .514  in his current nine-game hitting streak with three homers, five RBI, and nine runs scored in that span. The Reds have moved him right in front of Joey Votto, who homered in seven straight before last night. You can bet Farmer is going to keep getting a ton of pitches to hit.

Rowdy Tellez (1B, LHB, MIL) - 13.2% Rostered

Matchup: at ATL RHP Charlie Morton

One of the most impactful trade deadline deals may also be one of the first. The Brewers sent Bowden Francis and Trevor Richards to the Blue Jays for Rowdy back on July 6. In 16 games with his new team, Rowdy is hitting .357 with four homers, nine runs scored, and 12 RBI. He has also walked six times while only walking nine times in 50 games with Toronto. All four of those homers are in the last six games and he is hitting .448 in his seven-game hitting streak with those four homers, ten of those 12 RBI, and eight of those nine runs scored. The Brewers might have found a star, at least in the short term.

Abraham Toro (3B, LHB, SEA) - 10% Rostered

Matchup: at TEX RHP Mike Foltynewicz

Toro's four game homer streak came to an end on Friday, but he still collected four hits over the last two games against two lefty starters and scored a pair of runs. The four-game homer streak was a bit of a shock for a guy with eight total on the season, but Toro is still riding that six-game hitting streak as a whole and is proving to be a nice commodity for a young Seattle team.

Miguel Cabrera (1B, RHB, DET) - 5.9% Rostered

Matchup: vs. BAL RHP Spenser Watkins

37-year-old Joey Votto, who recently graduated from this list, is having a monster second half so far. 38-year-old Miguel Cabrera is turning back the clock to 2012 as well, when he was the last player to win the Triple Crown (the first in 45 years). Miggy is hitting .455 with three homers, five runs scored, and eight RBI in the last week while still batting cleanup for the Tigers. Considering that Miggy has hits in seven consecutive games, he's still worth throwing out there against a team like the Orioles.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/1 - Shallow Leagues

Logan Webb (RHP, SF) - 22% rostered

Matchup: vs.Houston

I don't like running pitchers against Houston, but I think I'm going to make an exception here. Webb has only allowed four runs across four starts since returning from a shoulder injury on July 9. Not impressed? Two of those starts were against the Dodgers and one was against the Nationals. The only real knock on Webb is that he sometimes has issues with walks and doesn't have elite strikeout numbers. However, Webb should still be able to help your ratios out here if nothing else.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/1 - Deeper Leagues

Reid Detmers (LHP, LAA) - 7.3% rostered

Matchup: vs. Oakland

Okay, it does take a leap of faith to run a rookie in his first major league start. Detmers racked up 106 strikeouts between AA and AAA this season, second in the minor leagues. More impressive is that Detmers did that in only 54 innings pitched! The A's are only hitting .235 against southpaws this year with a strikeout rate just over 26%. This kind of potential is worth taking a chance on if you really need strikeouts to end the week and aren't watching ratios closely.
