Jake McGee Pitches Eighth Inning Wednesday

San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Jake McGee earned his first hold of the season in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Reds. McGee entered the game to pitch the eighth inning with a one-run lead and pitched a 1-2-3- inning with no strikeouts. The interesting thing here is that manager Gabe Kapler elected to use McGee in the eighth inning rather than the ninth when it looked like a save opportunity would be available. McGee had seen most of the save opportunities to start the season but has stumbled lately and has been yielding those situations to Tyler Rogers. McGee's fantasy value would obviously take a big hit if he continues to be phased out of the closer's role.
