Fantasy Basketball Injury Updates for Week 15

Rishi Patel's fantasy basketball injuries and NBA lineup updates for Week 15. Find injury replacements and set optimal NBA lineups for seasonal and DFS formats.

Each week of the NBA season unfortunately brings injuries to key players across the league. The goal of this column is to break down those injuries and understand which players could benefit in fantasy from an injury to a teammate.

As a reminder, COVID-19 related absences from players will now be included in this column.

There are luckily very few injuries to cover this week for fantasy-relevant players, so let’s get to it.

Short-Term Injuries

Jaylen Brown, SG, Boston Celtics- hip

Brown apparently sustained a hip injury in Saturday’s contest and missed Monday’s game as a result. When the guard could come back remains to be seen. In the meantime, new acquisition Evan Fournier would be in line to pick up more minutes right off the bat and shoulder more of the scoring load, making him an intriguing fantasy play.

Bradley Beal, SG, Washington Wizards- hip

Beal missed Monday’s game due to a hip injury and his status is questionable going forward. Beal represents a major part of the Washington offense, averaging 31.3 points per game. Youngster Jerome Robinson will see more minutes in Beal’s absence, but he’s not fantasy-relevant at this point considering his small role on this team and the fact that he’s unproven.

Long Term Injuries

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, SG, Oklahoma City Thunder-foot

A foot injury will sideline the youngster for quite a bit of time and this is unfortunate considering he was averaging 23.7 points per game this season. For now, Svi Mykhailiuk, Ty Jerome, and Theo Maledon will see an uptick in minutes.

Only Maledon is worth a stash at this point considering he put up 22 points, eight rebounds, and four assists on Saturday and showed a bit of his potential.
