David Fletcher Exits Sunday’s Contest Early
David Fletcher departed Sunday’s contest against the Mariners early due to an apparent twisted ankle. Luis Rengifo took over at the keystone for Fletcher who went 0-for-2 prior to departing, which dropped his average on the season to .313. The Angels have made it apparent that Fletcher will play everyday no matter the position, which provides him with a consistent floor moving forward so long as he has avoided serious injury. His next chance to return to the starting nine comes Monday versus Seattle and left-hander Marco Gonzales, whom he has faced more than any pitcher in his big league career (8-for-22, three doubles, one triple).
