Hey there LoL enthusiasts and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of LCS for the Summer split on FanDuel and DraftKings.
To finish up week two of the LCS we have another four-gamer today. Yesterday's slate was pretty surprising as FLY smoked TSM and broke the slate wide open with a sub ADC on the roster playing his first LCS game. Today's four-gamer has some great matchups on it so let's get started.
Today I'll be bringing you my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for the four-game LCS slate on FanDuel and DraftKings that locks on Sunday, June 21st at 4:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @Governor98. Thanks for reading, now let's get to the strategy and picks!
League of Legends DFS Basics
Since LCS contests are being offered on both FanDuel and DraftKings, it's important to note some pricing discrepancies from site to site, but the roster slots, scoring, and roster construction rules are almost entirely identical with the only exception being that FanDuel forces you to roster at least one player (or team slot) from a third team, while you can play only two teams among your seven roster slots on DraftKings.
- Stacking in LoL DFS lineups is very important. 4-3 stacks are the order of the day (on DraftKings) with 3-3-1 becoming more popular (and necessary on FanDuel) as people try to differentiate their lineups in these suddenly large-field GPPs.
- In LoL DFS, it is very important to focus on players from winning teams. Think in terms of baseball, one side of the matchup is like a pitcher and the other side the batter. This means there is a very negative correlation between teams in the same match. Players score by accumulating kills, which costs the other side points in deaths. Just like earned runs bring down your pitcher’s score.
- Along with this another mistake I see beginners making is trusting average scoring. Players' scoring potential is only realized in games that are won. If player X averages 50 DKP, that likely comes from scoring 70 in a 2-0 win and 30 in an 0-2 defeat. What this means is that someone who looks like a value at $4800 suddenly might not end up being such a great point-per-dollar play.
- Finally, you're going to want to do your best you fill your captain slot with an ADC or MID. Depending on which teams and players you decide to stack that might not be feasible. The order of preference for your captain slot is generally ADC, MID, JNG, TOP, SUP. Some players in some positions may stand out above the others so consider stats like kill share before you make your final decision.
Game 1: Team Liquid vs. Evil Geniuses
This game is essentially a pickem as both teams are a -115 on Bovada. TL looked good yesterday vs 100T and have looked good throughout the split. EG played very well in week one, but fell short to cloud9 yesterday.
I like TL to continue on their winning streak today and end the weekend 2-0. They seem to be on a mission to show people that the last split was a fluke and they are ready to be back on top. This should be a very close game so I don't mind either side for leverage but I am going to favor TL.
Top TL Plays:
- Tactical, Broxah, Jensen, Impact, CoreJJ, TL team
Top EG plays:
- Jizuke, Bang, Svenskeren, Zeyzal
Game 2: FlyQuest (-280)vs. Dignitas
Yet again TSM burned us as FLY stomped them yesterday and won the slate. masH, the sub ADC looked very good but TSM didn't help themselves by drafting a terrible comp, especially against the tanks that FLY had to protect masH on aphelios. He made it look easy. DIG played a decent game against CLG yesterday.
CLG gave them every chance to win but DIG couldn't finish it off and got outscaled by CLG's comp. I like FLY in this one. I think that they will be very popular but for good reason. If they go off again like happened yesterday you are going to need them in order to cash.
Top FLY plays:
- Santorin, PowerOfEvil, Solo, masH, IgNar, FLY team
Game 3: Cloud9 (-850) vs. GoldenGuardians
Another C9 game, another C9 win. They played well yesterday, Blaber especially, but they couldn't outscore FLY so as a result having them didn't matter all too much. They should make easy work of GGS in this one.
GGS lost pretty handily to CLG on Friday and the matchup doesn't get much harder here than C9. Against GGS I like to take advantage of the botlane so I really like Zven and Vulcan here, but all C9's members are fine.
Top C9 plays:
- Licorice, Blaber, Nisqy, Zven, Vulcan, C9 Team
Game 4: 100Thieves(-235) vs. Immortals
Well after picking on 100T yesterday against TL, I like them here in this matchup vs IMT. IMT looks lost and their team has made like three subs since the start of the season. I think 100T gets their first win of the season here.
I specifically like CodySun and Ssumday here as they are 100T's primary carries and they have decent prices on both sites. There's not a ton to say here, stack against IMT until they prove otherwise.
Top 100T plays:
- Ssumday, CodySun, Ryoma, Meteos, 100T team
Summary:
- Start your lineups by getting in one of the big favorites and then fill in with some 100T or either side of the TL/ EG game.
- On that note, I'm predicting EG to be a pretty significant leverage spot against TL but it certainly has a low floor.
On that note, if anyone has any questions or needs some suggestions, feel free to @ me in the Slack.
