Hey there LoL enthusiasts and welcome to RotoBaller's coverage of LCS for the Summer split on FanDuel and DraftKings.
The summer split represents the most important part of the LCS season as the teams who perform the best get to represent North America on the world's stage. The spring split was dominated by Cloud 9. They had a historic season, only losing one game to TSM during the regular season and sweeping FlyQuest in the finals. This split there are some personnel changes, most notably the acquisition of Doublelift by TSM. TSM bringing in the best domestic player is a league changing move but we will have to see if it will be enough to take down the champs Cloud9.

LCS DFS Slate Overview
This slate marks the first 4-game full slate of the summer split. These are where we see the big boy tournaments and where we can take stances and exposures on teams we like. I do not have too much else to say here so let's get into the game breakdowns.
League of Legends DFS Basics
Since LCS contests are being offered on both FanDuel and DraftKings, it's important to note some pricing discrepancies from site to site, but the roster slots, scoring, and roster construction rules are almost entirely identical with the only exception being that FanDuel forces you to roster at least one player (or team slot) from a third team, while you can play only two teams among your seven roster slots on DraftKings.
- Stacking in LoL DFS lineups is very important. 4-3 stacks are the order of the day (on DraftKings) with 3-3-1 becoming more popular (and necessary on FanDuel) as people try to differentiate their lineups in these suddenly large-field GPPs.
- In LoL DFS, it is very important to focus on players from winning teams. Think in terms of baseball, one side of the matchup is like a pitcher and the other side the batter. This means there is a very negative correlation between teams in the same match. Players score by accumulating kills, which costs the other side points in deaths. Just like earned runs bring down your pitcher’s score.
- Along with this another mistake I see beginners making is trusting average scoring. Players' scoring potential is only realized in games that are won. If player X averages 50 DKP, that likely comes from scoring 70 in a 2-0 win and 30 in an 0-2 defeat. What this means is that someone who looks like a value at $4800 suddenly might not end up being such a great point-per-dollar play.
- Finally, you're going to want to do your best you fill your captain slot with an ADC or MID. Depending on which teams and players you decide to stack that might not be feasible. The order of preference for your captain slot is generally ADC, MID, JNG, TOP, SUP. Some players in some positions may stand out above the others so consider stats like kill share before you make your final decision.
Game 1: Evil Geniuses (-300) vs. Counter Logic Gaming
In this game, we see EG again. They played really well on Friday starting their season off with a win against 100T. Specifically, Jizuke had a really good game. CLG struggled last year until they subbed in Pobeltor. He had a couple of good games in a row for CLG but it wasn't enough for them to get into the playoffs.
CLG was projected as a bottom three team coming into the split, and as a result, I expect EG to take the win here. I like all the same cast again for EG but I'd be careful starting Jizuke again expecting a similar performance to Friday. I think there are better options in the mid lane especially on FD where Jizuke is 9.1k.

- Svenskeren, Jizuke, Bang, Zeyzal, EG team
Game 2: Team SoloMid vs. Team Liquid (-125)
This is the game of the day in my opinion. We get the Doublelift revenge game against the team that benched him and raded him in Week 1. TL is a very solid team and I expect them to be near the top of the table when all is said and done, but I give the slight edge to TSM.
I think that if TL were to win it would come through the mismatch in the jungle. Broxah when playing well is a top two jungler in the league and I think the trading of Doublelift will open up the team to play through any lane that is winning. This will be one to watch and may have serious implications later on in the season.

- BrokenBlade, Bjergsen, Doublelift, Biofrost, TSM team
Top TL Plays:
- Broxah, CoreJJ, Jensen
Game 3: Immortals vs. FlyQuest (-235)
On the opposite end of the spectrum is this game. This one looks like a sleeper. I think FLY wins this one relatively easily. To be honest, I am not sure how IMT will win a game this split. They have no impressive lanes, they have no carry, they are talking about benching Xmithie who's their only real notable player.
I specifically like the mid lane matchup for PowerOfEvil, he has a big mismatch against Eika and I think he will be popular. If PowerOfEvil projects to be popular I will have less than the field as the likelihood he has a solid but not slate breaking game is high and so I think I can get more points elsewhere.
Top FLY plays:
- Santorin, PowerOfEvil, IgNar, FLY team
Game 4: Golden Guardians (-140) vs. Dignitas
The last game is actually really interesting. I really like the move by GGS in getting Damonte. I think he gives them a real carry threat in the lane that means the most right now in professional play. GG's jungle Closer, led the league in kill participation last year so if he can pick up where he left off GGS could have a really good chance at winning.
On the flip side, DIG made a downgrade in the top lane from Huni to V1per. I think that Froggen may have a slight edge in the mid lane against Damonte but I think personally I am going to give a slight edge to GGS in this late-night hammer.

- Hauntzer, Closer, Damonte
Top DIG plays:
- Froggen, Johnsun
