Cedi Osman 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoCleveland Cavaliers small forward Cedi Osman struggled to live up to his preseason hype early on in 2018-19, but he ended the year in great form and some good improvement is expected again in 2019-20. Osman averaged 13 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists during his sophomore year, shooting 42.7 percent from the field and just below 35 percent from beyond the arc. With Kevin Love missing almost the whole year, Osman slowly developed into a leader for the young Cavs, and he's expected to take another step forward during the upcoming season. Love will be back, which will lower Osman's usage rate, but he's a pretty versatile guy at the offensive end who doesn't need the ball at his hands at any cost to stay effective, so he should still get his. Producing at the other end of the floor is a completely different story, although the same can be said about the whole team. Osman had only 0.8 steals and 0.1 blocks per game last season. He has the potential to improve defensively, but getting stops has been an issue for Cleveland for years now and it needs fundamental tweaking. With that in mind, we can forgive Osman his defensive shortcomings.
