Russell Wilson To Rest, Geno Smith To Start Thursday

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will be rested for the team's preseason opener on Thursday against the Denver Broncos, so head coach Pete Carroll has tabbed Geno Smith as his starter for the exhibition opener. It's customary for many veterans to rest for the meaningless dress rehearsal, and 'DangeRuss' is not an exception. When the games count for real, Wilson is a bona fide QB1 in all fantasy formats heading into 2019. He passed for 3,448 yards with a career-high 35 touchdowns and just seven interceptions in 2018 while running for 376 yards across 16 starts. He has never missed a game in seven NFL seasons, too, so fantasy owners love his durability.
