Mike Ford Smacks Game-Winning Home Run

Back with the New York Yankees for the first time since a July cameo due to injuries, first baseman Mike Ford had the biggest hit of his career Monday night. The 27-year-old smacked a solo home run in the eighth, breaking a 6-6 tie against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. Ford, who was recalled after Edwin Encarnacion's wrist fracture, had a second-consecutive day with a big hit following an RBI single in Sunday's victory over the Boston Red Sox. While he appeared to have suffered some kind of injury himself, he called it a cramp after the game. He figures to remain in the mix for starting time as Encarnacion and Luke Voit continue to nurse injuries.
