Week 17 Wide Receivers - Waiver Wire Pickups and Adds

Kyle Richardson's recommended fantasy football wide receiver waiver wire pickups for Week 17. These are your free agent fantasy WRs to add, and potential PPR sleepers to stash in 2018.

It’s the final week of the NFL regular season and for some of you, the fantasy season as well. If your league is crowning a champion this week and you look to be that owner, then you may need to see if one of these wide receivers present a better matchup then what you have on the roster.

Even this deep into the season, you should have your eye on waivers for anyone that presents a good matchup. Don’t sit your studs for any of these players, but if you have been patching together a lineup due to injuries, one of the guys below could offer the potential to help take your team to a win next week.

Not all options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one size fits all comparison. Use your best judgment when deciding which of these players is the right fit for your roster. Check here for a complete list of our Waiver Wire Adds for Week 17 for help at all the skill positions. As always, RotoBaller has you covered!

WR Waiver Wire Pickups and Adds

Robert Foster, BUF - 36% owned

Robert Foster didn’t have a huge game in Week 16 like we had become accustomed to in prior weeks, but it was still an overall solid performance. Foster was able to haul in four catches for 52 yards but didn’t break out that big play owners had hoped for. The Buffalo Bills will play the Miami Dolphins this week, who have given up 27.58 fantasy points to opposing wide receivers the past four weeks, fourth-most in the league. The Dolphins have also been missing their top cornerback, so the opportunity for Foster to blow up again will present itself. It’s always a risky play with Josh Allen at quarterback, but the ceiling will be there in Week 17.

Jamison Crowder, WSH - 22% owned

Even though the Washington Redskins won’t be playing for a playoff spot in Week 17, they will be trying to ruin playoff hopes for the rival Philadelphia Eagles. For the Redskins to do that, they will need to put up a lot of points and Jamison Crowder will need to have a big day for that to happen. Crowder has at least seven targets and 75 yards in two of the last three games and the switch to quarterback Josh Johnson hasn’t seemed to affect Crowder much. Now he will get to face an Eagles secondary that has done better against the pass in recent weeks but has still given up the third most fantasy points on the season to opposing wide receivers. Crowder could prove to be a nice PPR flex play this week.

Nelson Agholor, PHI - 34% owned

It just hasn’t been the same for Nelson Agholor in 2018 as it was in 2017, but maybe he can salvage a small portion of the season here at the very end. Agholor and Nick Foles were able to connect in Week 16 for 116 yards on five catches. This was somewhat surprising because Agholor and Foles didn’t seem to be on the same page last season after Carson Wentz went down. Even if the connection isn’t there, the matchup potential will be in Week 17 against the Washington Redskins. The Redskins have given up 24.18 points per game to opposing wide receivers the last four weeks which is tenth most in the league. Washington won’t want to just disappear at the end of the season and since they will be at home, trying to ruin the season for the Eagles, I expect them to show up ready to play.

Chester Rodgers, IND - 2% owned

Chester Rodgers popped up on fantasy radars a few weeks back when he had three straight games with double-digit targets in Week 4 through Week 6. He has disappeared since then and because of that, is barely owned in fantasy leagues now. The biggest factor for this has been how the Colts use their tight ends. Heading into Week 17 though, the Colts may be a little light at tight end after Jack Doyle ended up on IR a few weeks back and now Eric Ebron is in the concussion protocol. If Ebron is unable to get healthy for Week 17, Rodgers becomes a very interesting pick in PPR leagues. I expect the Colts to pass a lot Sunday night against the Titans. Rodgers found the end zone in Week 16 on a crucial play, maybe he can find it again in Week 17?

Mohamed Sanu, ATL - 43% owned

Everyone’s favorite WR3 showed up again in Week 16, catching five passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. Sanu doesn’t have as many catches in 2018 as he did in 2017 yet, but he does have more receiving yards already and if the Falcons decide they don’t want to risk Julio Jones in a game that doesn’t matter against the Buccaneers, he could rack up some more. Jones was banged up prior to Week 16 and there was a serious question as to whether he would suit up last week. If the Falcons are still worried and decide to sit Jones, Sanu becomes the WR2 against a Tampa Bay team that has given up the seventh most points to opposing wide receivers this season. If you have an open bench spot to stash Sanu, do it early in the week prior to a call on Jones being made.
