Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom produced three assists during a 4-1 win over the New York Islanders. Backstrom has been his productive self to start the season. The Swedish pivot has six goals, 22 assists, and 13 power-play points through 24 games. He has been playing on the top line with Alex Ovechkin and Tom Wilson with Evgeny Kuznetsov (upper body) sidelined. Backstrom has had at least 70 points for the past five seasons.
