The New York Mets have called up infielder Luis Guillorme and sent catcher Tomas Nido to Triple-A Las Vegas. Guillorme, who is 23 years old, gives the Mets some infield depth while third baseman Todd Frazier recovers from his hamstring injury on the disabled list. Guillorme is probably a more exciting name for Mets fans than he is for fantasy purposes. While he is slashing a very nice .300/.394/.433 with one home run, 14 runs scored, 15 RBI and two stolen bases in Triple-A this season, it’s Guillorme’s defense that makes him valuable. Known as one of the best defensive infielders throughout the entirety of the minor leagues, Guillorme would make life much easier on Mets starting pitchers, assuming they can keep the ball in the yard. There’s not much, if any, fantasy intrigue here.--John Smith
