New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes left Sunday’s game against the San Diego Padres with a thumb injury after sliding headfirst into third base. The injury was labeled as a sore left thumb -- X-rays were negative, but Cespedes was set to undergo a precautionary MRI on Monday. While it still sounds as if Yo will only miss three games, we don’t know for sure because the Mets haven’t updated his status. According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson will instead address all questions on Tuesday during his normal pre-homestand press conference. It's a weird decision by the Mets, but that’s the Mets for you. As of now, owners should stick to the three-game timeline communicated by Cespedes himself unless we hear otherwise.--John Smith
