NBA Waiver Wire: Standard League Adds for Week 15

The trade deadline is fast approaching and new names are popping up in trade rumors daily. There will be people dealt and fantasy teams shaken. If someone you own is traded, make sure you do your due diligence before making any rash decisions. While that seems like pretty basic advice, people panicking in fantasy sports is as common as Blake Griffin missing extended time due to injury.

As for this column, as we move forward we will continue to recommend three names to either watch or pick up, but at the same time, look back at the week before's add suggestions. Last week, Dewayne Dedmon averaged 7.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in just 20 minutes of action. The ceiling is definitely high on Dedmon, should he receive more playing time. Bogdan Bogdanovic averaged 14.5 points with 2.3 threes, 4.0 rebounds and assists. His minutes continue to move upward, which is a great sign for continued improvement. Finally, Ish Smith is not putting up the points expected as the starting point guard for Detroit, but he has averaged 5.0 assists over the last seven days.

As a reminder, for standard (10-12 team) league adds, we use a general rule of thumb of an ownership rate of under 50% on Yahoo. All position eligibility based on Yahoo leagues.

Standard League Adds for Week 15

Jeremy Lamb, SG  Charlotte Hornets

Ownership: 49%

14.1 PPG / 4.87 REB / 1.2 3PT / . 453 FG%

The Charlotte Hornets are definitely dealing some, or if possible all of its roster before the trade deadline. One person who should benefit from any deal to the current Hornets backcourt is Jeremy Lamb. Lamb has scored 10 or more points in 36 games this season--already a career high. At 19.8, only Kemba Walker is averaging more points per 36 minutes than Lamb.

For the season, he holds top-70 value. Over the last seven days, he has been producing top-50 numbers. The only explanation for Lamb to be available in more than 50% of leagues is because he's not a starter. Don't let that affect your judgement. Lamb should most certainly be owned in all leagues.

Kelly Oubre, SF – Washington Wizards

Ownership 47%

12.1 PPG / 1.7 3PT / 4.9 REB / .400 3PT%

Oubre is another player coming off the bench whose numbers suggest people are staying away because of his roster slot. Oubre for the season has top-100 value. With Otto Porter (hip) out with a lingering injury, however, Oubre could provide even more production. In the Wizards' last game before Porter got hurt, Oubre played 31 minutes and scored a career high 26-points while converting five three pointers.

On the season, almost 45 percent of Oubre's shot attempts are threes. Over his last five games, he has made 15-for-28 from beyond the arc. He has provided a large sample size of what he's capable of coming off the bench. Should Porter miss extended time for an injury he's been dealing with all season, Oubre could really come out as the third scoring option for a Washington team that ranks in the top 10 in points per game.

Milos Teodosic, PG – Los Angeles Clippers

Ownership 32%

9.5 PPG / 5.4 AST / 3.1 REB / 2.1 3PT

Teodosic was a darkhorse for Rookie of the Year when the season began. Brought in to replace Chris Paul, Teodosic has battled injuries and transitioning to the NBA's style of basketball in the first 3 months of the season. Teodosic might be starting to find a rhythm, however.

Since returning from injury on January 11, Teodosic has scored in double digits in all but one game, while dealing out at least five assists in all but one game. His averages during that span would place him in the top 90 for 9-cat leagues. He has drilled 2.8 threes, while scoring 11.8 points and dropping 5.8 dimes. More importantly he is shooting 49 percent from the floor. A stark difference from the less than 40 percent Teodosic was shooting before his return.

The Clippers are an interesting team. After floundering through November and December, they have seem to found a flow and identity. Once Danilo Gallinari returns form injury, Teodosic will have four legitimate offensive options to increase his assist total while having the luxury to be picky with his shot selection. As long as he can avoid any the injury bug, Teodosic should be a big time player in fantasy basketball for the remainder of the season.
