NBA Waiver Wire: Standard League Adds Week 7

Week 7 fantasy basketball waiver wire adds for standard leagues. Take a look at Three NBA players who are owned in less than 50% of fantasy basketball leagues.

Week 7 – tired of scouring the waiver wire and comparing stats to decide who is worth one of your valuable adds? Well, fret no more, that’s what we’re here for. This week, we’ve got three different types of players who can contribute to your roster and bring solidify your team with weekly consistency.

This year, we're tossing out our old convention of separating waiver wire posts into positions, and instead, we're separating them into of league -- standard, shallow, deep, etc. The NBA is trending to positionless basketball, so we at RotoBaller should too.

For standard (10-12 team) league adds, we use a general rule of thumb of an ownership rate of under 50% on Yahoo. All position eligibility based on Yahoo leagues.

Standard League Adds for Week 7

Justin Holiday, Chicago Bulls

Ownership: 49%

14.8 PPG / 4.3 REB / 2.1 AST / .364 FG%

Yes, his field goal percentage is horrid, but he is making up for it with the rest of his game. Justin Holiday has had the liberty in the Zack LaVine-less Bulls offense to take all the shots he wishes to. This, of course, leads to bad percentages, but he is contributing all over the floor, adding 2.8 triples, 1.3 steals, and .5 blocks per game through the first quarter of the season. Maybe you’re punting percentages, then great, he is your man.

With LaVine expected to be out until at least the end of December, Holiday could provide some plus value over the next month, as he has been balling lately. Over the past two weeks he is putting up 15.7 PPG with 3.1 3PM, and his field goal percentage has even taken a slight bump. He is one of the better three-point specialists left on the waiver, and the way he is contributing on the defensive side makes him worth an add, with the added benefit of not hurting your turnovers much either. If he keeps it up, he will even be able to play alongside LaVine, which may provide some better efficiency from the field, as he won’t be chucking as much.

Marco Belinelli, SG/SF – Atlanta Hawks

Ownership 33%

12.1 PPG / 2.2 REB / 2.5 AST / .418 FT%

Every week I hesitate to put Marco Belinelli on this list, and every week he puts up numbers, yet as each week passes, he continues to sit on the waiver wire. He is not the most attractive add, which surely is why he is still sitting at ownership rates in only a third of the leagues, but his consistency is impressive. He won’t kill you anywhere, and with a .939 FT% and 2.2 3PM per game, he will even be able to provide you with an edge in close matchups. In addition to that, he hardly turns the ball over, averaging only 1.0 per game, and comes away with 1.3 steals a contest.

He has been playing well enough to be rostered in all standard leagues and will provide value for you night in and night out. Maybe there's a hot add sitting on the wire? In that case, you can drop him at your own peril, as he will probably still be sitting there when the other guy cools off. Though, if it were my fantasy team, I’d roster him all season long. Consistency wins championships in fantasy.

Larry Nance Jr., PF – Los Angeles Lakers

Ownership 45%

10.4 PPG / 7.6 REB / 1.7 STL / .609 FG%

In his return from a hand injury, Larry Nance Jr. scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds, and came away with four steals in 30 minutes of game time. Not bad for a return from injury, and even better news for Nance Jr. was that his presence reduced Kyle Kuzma’s minutes. Julius Randle is also in the mix of things, so it seems like coach Luke Walton has to figure out a productive timeshare for these three. Though, it seems like Randle may be on his way out soon.

Regardless, they are all worth owning, as they are producing so far this season, and there is a good chance that Nance Jr. will prove to be more valuable due to his defense. Nance Jr. won’t hurt you anywhere and is a four-category contributor, making him a great option for those of you punting threes and/or points.
