Daily Fantasy Football Lineup Picks (Preseason Week 2): NFL DFS Advice for DraftKings

It's never too early to start your NFL season with some daily fantasy football plays. No need to wait for the regular 2017 season to start, we've got you covered starting Week 2 of the NFL preseason!

Here are some DFS picks at each position for DraftKings lineups that could pay off. With a limited amount of playing time for starters and uncertainty surrounding each position, it's a bit trickier in the preseason.

That said, here are our recommended DFS plays for Saturday, August 19, 2017 on DraftKings for NFL.

DraftKings DFS Quarterbacks

Patrick Mahomes (at Cincinnati Bengals)

There have been reports that Alex Smith is changing his style of play in order to hold off Mahomes for at least this season. This suggests that Mahomes is closing in on Smith and the starting job. He looked great in his first preseason game, throwing for 49 yards and one touchdown on only nine attempts. He also had a long completion to DeMarcus Robinson called back. Mahomes will likely see more action this weekend, and he has yet to display his running ability, which is one of his best attributes. He is a high upside option this weekend.

Jimmy Garoppolo (at Houston Texans)

Garoppolo is simply too good to be playing in preseason, but that does not mean the Patriots are going to bench him. Tom Brady has nothing to prove, while New England would like to get their backup plenty of snaps. Last week, he completed 22 of 28 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns. It would be surprising if he threw nearly 30 times again, but he’s extremely efficient and should see enough playing time to be one of the top quarterbacks on the slate.

DraftKings DFS Running Backs

De’Angelo Henderson (at San Francisco 49ers)

Henderson has been making waves in Broncos practice, as he is already taking first team reps. He’s an athletic running back out of a small school, which has caused him to go overlooked in the fantasy community. He recorded 54 yards and one touchdown on a team-high seven carries in the Broncos first game. He had one reception for one yard, as well. He has tremendous speed, which always makes him a threat for a long touchdown, which is why he’s a great tournament option this weekend.

D’Onta Foreman (vs New England Patriots)

Foreman reported to camp overweight and was involved in an incident with the law, but he finally looks as if he is working his way into the Texans offense. He ran well the first week, recording 76 yards on nine carries. He also added two receptions for six yards for good measure. He’s a massive running back that comes with elite touchdown potential, as well. He gets a matchup against the Patriots, who allowed the Jaguars to run for 207 yards last season. Foreman could push Lamar Miller for the starting job this season, and it will start in preseason.

DraftKings DFS Wide Receivers

Jaron Brown (vs Chicago Bears)

Brown makes a boom or bust option for the Cardinals this weekend. Bruce Arians recently stated that Brown is the Cardinals number two wide receiver behind only Larry Fitzgerald. He could be using this as a motivational tactic for John Brown and J.J. Nelson, but Arians is the type of coach that tends to tell the truth regardless of what other people think. Brown will have a chance to showcase himself against the Bears after failing to record a reception last week. He’s a big body with good hands, and the Cardinals would be wise to see what they have with him if they are truly planning on starting him in the regular season. Keep in mind, he does not have a catch this preseason, and he is a risky option.

Dres Anderson (vs New England Patriots)

Anderson was a bright spot for the Texans in their first game. He managed four receptions for 80 yards on a team-high eight targets. Will Fuller and DeAndre Hopkins have both been ruled out this weekend, while Braxton Miller is also likely to miss this game. If Miller is out, Anderson will continue to be peppered with targets. He possesses big play ability, and he’s an elite option on this slate, as he possesses a great floor and ceiling combination.

DraftKings DFS Tight End

Jacob Hollister (at Houston Texans)

It’s always wise to use players that are currently in a position battle. Rob Gronkowski and Dwayne Allen are locks for the Patriots, but Hollister could play his way into the third tight end job. The Patriots clearly wanted to see what they had in their young tight end, as he was targeted a team-high nine times in the first week. He recorded seven receptions for 116 yards on those targets. This week will prove if they found a hidden gem in Hollister or if that was a fluke. Either way, getting a tight end in preseason that will see a healthy amount of targets is rare to find. Hollister is an elite option this week.
