FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (10/13/16): MLB DFS Advice

A little two-day NLDS finale/ALCS game one combo slate? Why not! It all begins at 8:08 Eastern time tonight, so make sure to get your lineups set this afternoon if you plan on playing. Is there anything we can learn from these Vegas lines? I think they can be of help, but to be honest I wouldn't rely on them as heavily as I (or we) normally do. This MLB playoffs has been as unpredictable as any. The over/under lines for both games are under eight, so I wouldn't put stock into either. The only thing that could be important to understand today - when trying to pick a cash game safe pitcher - or, to the reverse respect, when trying to pick a contrarian-type pitcher - is that the Nationals (Scherzer) and Indians (Kluber) are both run-line and moneyline favorites.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 10/13/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on FanDuel.

Editor's Note: If you like FanDuel, be sure to also check out FantasyAces. New users that sign up on Fantasy Aces and make a $20 deposit will receive RotoBaller's full season NFL Premium Pass for free (including Premium DFS & MLB Premium), normally a $59.99 value. DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel

Cleveland Indians top-of-order versus Marco Estrada

I don't have individual team run expectancy lines available yet, but with Thursday night's being so low, and tomorrow's game having the higher over/under (with the Indians favored), I'm going to take an educated guess that theirs is tops. As I alluded to earlier in my column, I'm not putting a ton of stock into Vegas lines and run lines - the differentials between the four teams are small and baseball is so hard to predict as it is, never-mind how tough it has been this playoffs.

That all said, I do like that the Indians likely have the highest figure, have home field advantage, and they also face (in my humble opinion) the least talented pitcher of the four guys taking the bump over the next 24+ hours. On top of that, I think their offense is often over-looked, which is a bit odd because it has a ton of talent at the top and early-middle of the order, and it could keep their ownership low. To take down a tournament in such a small slate, you're going to need some seriously unique lineup combinations.

Estrada has been pretty good this season, there is no real denying that. But his numbers (1.12 WHIP and 8.5 K/9) are the worst among this pitching quartet. He's also pitching in the park that is the best for hitters. My favorite Cleveland hitters are the ones with a combination of strong splits that create a high floor (wOBA) and also upside (ISO). My top four Indians choices would be Carlos Santana, Jason Kipnis, Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez.

Also Consider: Washington Nationals top-of-order versus Rich Hill

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Max Scherzer (SP, WAS) - $10,400

I went back and forth between Mad Max and Corey Kluber as my top choice, but what ultimately won out for me is upside. Sure, you look for upside in all the contests you participate in, but with a small slate (and therefore almost no margin for error or lost opportunity), I'm going with the guy pitching at home, in a good park for pitchers, with the best strikeout stuff.

Scherzer has been just okay in the home runs allowed department (1.2 per 9), but what's great is that rarely knocks him out of games. His super low WHIP (0.97) indicates he doesn't allow for a ton of baserunners or big innings - two things that would be detrimental to him attaining a high number of strikeouts and earning a victory. His 11.2 K/9 on the season is excellent and the fact the Dodgers have struck out in nearly 28% of their at-bats versus right-handed pitching is very enticing.

Also Consider: Corey Kluber (SP, CLE) - ($9,900)

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Catcher (C)

Jose Lobaton (C, WAS) - $2,100

Ninety-nine times out of 100, I'm going to suggest the guy with the combination of the best splits and matchup at each position. Full disclosure right here, I'm not doing that at catcher. The "top" options have poor matchups, and I think they'll be incredibly high owned. Lobaton should give your lineup some unique value, his price allows for so much flexibility at other positions, and his .200 ISO is pretty damn good. He certainly has HR upside.

First Base (1B)

Carlos Santana (1B, CLE) - $3,300

Santana is a big-time bargain at this price and he faces the least talented pitcher of this slate. For the season, he owns an impressive .382 wOBA and .285 ISO splits.

Second Base (2B)

Jason Kipnis (2B, CLE) - $3,500

Kipnis has had some great at-bats this postseason and he also owns excellent lineup order value hitting in the two-hole. On top of that, he has the best positive park factors as a left-handed batter in Cleveland, and has impressive splits - .349 wOBA, .198 ISO.

Shortstop (SS)

Corey Seager (SS, LAD) - $3,500

It feels weird suggesting the guy facing my top pitching option, but a Seager home run would help you immensely while hurting you very little. He's certainly the most talented hitter among the shortstops playing and his .401 wOBA split is incredibly impressive.

Third Base (3B)

Josh Donaldson (3B, TOR) - $3,700

The Bringer of Rain at under 4K is a real steal, regardless of what he has or hasn't accomplished lately (he's been slumping a bit). Despite Kluber's talents, I like this matchup for Donaldson. His teammates have been hot, and if they stay hot, he'll have ample opportunity to drive runs in and be driven in. His .262 ISO split isn't too shabby, either.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

Jayson Werth (OF, WAS) - $3,000

Werth is a great combination of value and impressive splits (with big differentials). His .429 wOBA and .298 ISO splits are monstrous and he could take advantage of any mistake Rich Hill makes.

Rajai Davis (OF, CLE) - $2,900

If you need to squeeze some value (or perhaps are running out of cash), Davis is a nice option for under 3K. His splits aren't eye-popping, but he does fare better against right-handers than he does southpaws and he faces the least talented pitcher.

Bryce Harper (OF, WAS) - $3,300

Bryce hasn't been special lately but he does still present big upside and has nice lineup order value. The price is a very fair one and I'll take a .200 ISO split at that price most days of the week.
