Week 15 Running Back (RB) Rankings Analysis

By Zach Wilkens (@LopsidedTrades)

Let’s start off with the new starting RBs this week. First we have Denard Robinson. Robinson was alright last year but I think he can do a lot more in this much improved offense.

He proved that last week with 15 touches for 87 yards and a score. The Falcons give up the third most points to RBs  I have Denard at RB10 this week.

The Seahawks Bryce Brown is a bit more of a mystery. I definitely think he gets the nod over Christine Michael, but if he makes any big mistakes that will change.

It’s a shame we don’t have more clarity because the Browns give up a 4.6 YPC, and you have to think the Seahawks will grab a big lead and run a lot. For reference they ran 32 times last week (not counting the QB runs). On that alone I’m willing to take a chance on Bryce as a low-end RB2. I have him at RB18.

The Broncos RB situation continues to remain an enigma. Ronnie Hillman seems to only play well when C.J. Anderson is the starter, I swear. With CJ only active as an emergency back last week, Hillman had just 20 yards on 12 carries.

It looks like CJ will be back this week and I definitely prefer him. Hillman has simply given no reason to trust him. Meanwhile CJ has an extremely impressive 6.3 YPC over his last six games.

One RB I really like this week? That would be Jeremy Hill. I guess this one should be pretty obvious but if the Bengals can, I’m sure they’d like to make A.J. McCarron’s first start as easy as possible.

The 49ers give up the most points to RBs, so on paper they should have no problem running the ball all day here. The Bengals have ran Hill a ton in their two most recent wins. I think they win comfortably here and Hill gets 20ish touches and a score.

Early in the week it looked as though Charcandrick West would have the Chiefs backfield to himself this week. However, Spencer Ware returned to practice and that hurts both RBs.

This was already a tough matchup against the Ravens. They give up the 4th fewest points to RBs. I definitely prefer West but if both play, I’ll have them outside my top 20.
