Week 8 Wide Receiver (WR) Rankings Analysis

By Zach Wilkens (@LopsidedTrades)

I’ve seen some people concerned about Larry Fitzgerald’s down game last week. Is there too much talent for him to maintain his production all season long? I don’t think so at all, and I’d go so far to say buy low if you can! Fitzgerald is one of the best receivers of this generation. It’s just a simple fact that even the best players will have bad games from time to time. He’ll be fine. Especially look forward to a big game if teammate John Brown sits with a hamstring injury.

Jeremy Maclin was a surprise inactive last week. Barring that happening again I really like him at WR13. His consensus sits at WR23 for the week. I think that has something to do with it being a London game but I can’t really see the Lions stopping him.

The Colts situation this week will be an interesting one. Shutdown corner Josh Norman is expected to cover T.Y. Hilton. That probably means extra targets sent Donte Moncrief’s way. I have Moncrief one spot higher. I think Hilton is still startable but I am definitely worried. Josh Norman is that good. If you have a really good alternative, I strongly suggest looking into it.

At this point it looks like Dez Bryant will make his return this week but man it is a tough matchup vs the Seahawks! I’ll be honest, I am unsure what to expect. The best thing to do is keep your eye out for reports about his usage and whether he’ll be limited. I think the best course of action is to keep him on the bench in this incredibly tough matchup.

Last week I brought up Nate Washington as my sleeper pick. He delivered in a huge way. With Cecil Shorts out again he should see a healthy amount of targets once again despite Deandre Hopkins’ presence. If you are in a really deep league, another name to consider this week would be Kenny Britt. He has just one catch the past three weeks but this is a great matchup and he had a couple good games earlier in the season. You’d have to be desperate, but if you need a name - there’s one!
