Lagares Starting In Center, Bat 9th For WS Game 2

Juan Lagares will start in centerfield and bat ninth for the New York Mets on Wednesday for Game 2 of the World Series against the Kansas City Royals.

Sitting Lagares caused the Mets one big blunder in the outfield that led to a quick run for the Royals. Michael Conforto started in left while Yoenis Cespedes played center. The two didn’t communicate well on a fly-ball, which led to an inside-the-park home run.  Lagares will be back there to hold down center while Cespedes will move over to left field.

Lagares came in as a defensive replacement late in the game and actually had three at-bats. The 26-year-old went 2-for-3 and one of his hits was off a 100 mph fastball. He now has a .438 BA this postseason and will get the nod for Game 2. If he continues to produce and play good defense, he won’t be out of the starting lineup.
