Week 7 Running Back (RB) Rankings Analysis

I’m still kind of stunned that I have Devonta Freeman at RB1 this week. I didn’t like him at all heading into the season but no one can deny that what he has done this season is nothing short of amazing. Even if he slows down a little he should still be safely in the top five. That speaks to how impressive he has been.

Arian Foster has a pretty terrible 2.3 YPC through three games but his workhorse usage and receiving ability keep him as a very viable play. Foster is averaging over 20 touches and 50 rec yards through three games. The YPC is definitely troubling but as long as those two numbers hold, he’ll be a good fantasy back. I have him at RB5 this week.

Christine Michael has received considerable hype this week after rumors that he will become the lead back. There have been conflicting reports on whether this is true or not and as a result I have him slightly below his consensus rank at RB25. That is higher than Joseph Randle whom I have at RB33. Both of those rankings reflect my lack of confidence in predicting the touch totals for the Cowboys this week, plus whether the offense can do much with Cassel at QB. Randle hasn’t done a whole lot so I am happy to take a chance on Michael as a flex if you own him.

It seems that many experts still like Charcandrick West a lot more than me this week. His consensus rank is RB25 but I have him at RB44 with Knile Davis at RB43. I don’t like either of them and West showed me absolutely nothing to make me think he is a viable fantasy play. The Steelers haven’t allowed an RB to score this season. I can’t imagine starting either this week.
