Ortiz, Semien, Pederson, Aoki: Buy And Sell Hitters for Fantasy Baseball Week 10

It's Week 10. 50 MLB games have been played and it's becoming harder and harder to trick fellow owners into stupid trades. But, it's not necessarily impossible.

Follow our advice at RotoBaller and you can be the proud owner of a new player for a cheap price. Plus, with your savvy trades, you can make your friends look stupid and yourself look smart. Isn't that what we all want?

Editor’s Note: To read about waiver wire options, be sure to check out our famous waiver wire pickups list which is a running list that is updated daily.

Sell Candidates For Week 10

Nori Aoki (OF, San Francisco Giants)

Aoki has been on fire for the Giants this year, along with the rest of the surprising offense in San Francisco. On the year, he's slashing .321/.394/.405 with 12 SB and 26 runs scored. The OBP alone, which is 50 points higher than his 2014 total, makes Aoki well worth owning in all formats and the stolen bases are a welcome addition. His role going forward, however, will depend largely on what happens with Hunter Pence and his ongoing injury issues. He's making a strong case for continued playing time, going 8-for-16 over his last four games. Either way, the efficient numbers speak for themselves. Try to deal Aoki while the numbers are still appealing, or else risk an outfielder relegated to platoon duties.

Maikel Franco (3B, Philidelphia Phillies)

The rookie slugger has been a ray of sunshine in Philadelphia. In 95 PA since being called up to the majors, Franco is slugging .549 with 6 HR and 16 RBI. In the past seven games alone, he's gone 13-for-29 with 8 RBI and a league-leading 4 HR over that span. The Phillies youngster is clearly picking up some power and has a promising future ahead of him. In reality, it's unlikely that he'll keep up this incredible pace at the young age of 22. Maybe you can convince a gullible leaguemate otherwise. Advertise Franco as the next Kris Bryant and see how far that, coupled with his stellar numbers as of late, can get you in return.

Joc Pederson (OF, Los Angeles Dodgers)

Pederson, who is leading the MLB in average home run distance in 2015, is clearly the power threat of the future in Los Angeles. In the past week of play, he's mashed 3 HR and sports an OBP of .353. Unlike Franco, Pederson's ability is already very well developed, as he's been one of the league's premier power hitters all year. Although one cannot deny his ability to swing the bat well, he's far surpassed his original projections for the year and would be one of the leading MVP candidates at the end of the year if he keeps up this pace. It's more likely than not that the 23 year-old's production will decrease at some point. Call it a hunch, but few sluggers not named Bryce Harper or Mike Trout can have such a consistent impact at such a young age. Even those two took a couple years to develop their talent. Either way, Pederson's stock is at a maximum right now. Capitalize while you still can.

Buy Candidates For Week 10

Marcus Semien (SS, Oakland Athletics)

Semien is in a midst of a mini-slump right now, as he is 9-for-43 (.209 BA) with almost no counting stats of which to speak over the last two weeks of play. Going into this year's draft, Semien was one of those potential sleeper candidates with a high ceiling, but also a high risk. Considering his defensive woes, it was not even certain he would keep a starting role in Oakland. On the contrary, Semien has been overall competent, perhaps great, for the Athletics this season, slashing /.275/.321/.423 and the potential to break 20 HR 20 SB on the season. Now that he's slumping, it's likely his owners are starting to panic about the unlikely production early in the season. Still, there's plenty of reason to believe he will rebound and continue his efficiency at the plate, if not in the field. Convince Semien owners that the critics were all right and snag him for a fear-induced discount.

David Ortiz (1B/DH, Boston Red Sox)

Ortiz is enduring his worst season on the Red Sox in 2015, and that's a lot of seasons from which to draw. His .219/.298/.375 are all career worsts. Also, he's not gaining any benefit from the incredibly poor offensive play around him in Boston. There's no reason to lie here--I have no statistically-backe logic to support an Ortiz turnaround for the rest of the season. The only reason I have is, he's freakin' David Ortiz. He's one of the greatest hitters from the most recent generation and he's always found a way to rally the troops in Boston one way or another. Then again, maybe his career is just hanging by a thread and his numbers will never quite rebound. Either way, you can probably snatch him up for pretty cheap right now. There's a possibility it will be very worth it.

Jose Iglesias (SS, Detroit Tigers)

Iglesias did not garner much attention for his offense heading into 2015. A highly touted defensive wizard, Iglesias proved to be a liability after multiple injuries that caused him to miss the entirety of the 2014 season. After an impressive rookie campaign in 2013, no one was sure how he would rebound. The answer is a .331 BA through 48 games, with a considerable speed factor as well. Iglesias stole 6 of his 7 total bases thus far in April. The problem is, after suffering a groin injury near the end of April, the coaching staff in Detroit has been weary to let Iglesias show off his wheels. That fear derives from the incredible hole left in his wake during the 2014 season. Once Iglesias heals a bit more, the Tigers should let him run a little more. Try to swipe him up before the SB totals rapidly rise and his value shoots up.
