Week 6 PPR Waiver Wire Sleepers & Starts for Deeper Leagues

By Jeffrey Beall (Own work) [CC-BY-3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0)], via Wikimedia CommonsThe BYE week madness has already begun, and that means as fantasy football owners we need to be digging deeper on the waiver wire to find weekly sleepers and sneaky starts.

I'm here to help you through it with some low ownership players that could have sneaky PPR values coming into Week 6 of the fantasy football season. All of these NFL players are startable in 12+ team leagues in Week 6, and I'll even be rolling with some of them myself.

As part of my analysis, I'll also provide my thoughts on their values for Week 6 by rating their "ceilings" and "floors" as follows:

Week 6 Sneaky Starts & PPR Sleepers

Storm Johnson (RB, JAX)

8% Owned in Fleaflicker Leagues

I wrote a waiver wire pickup post on Storm here, and it looks like he will be getting the shot to take over as the lead running back in Jacksonville sooner then we thought. With Blake Bortles improving on a weekly basis, lets hope the offense will show some life this week against a weak Titans team and be able to give the rock to Storm 15+ times. He could be a solid play in PPR leagues in Week 6 and going forward. He's still widely available on the waiver wire if you're looking for help at running back, and be sure to check the starting lineups Sunday morning and ensure he will be the starter.

Floor: Medium, Ceiling: High

Matt Prater (K, DET)

39% Owned in Fleaflicker Leagues

This clearly isn't relevant for PPR leagues, but I still wanted to discuss him as a waiver wire option for Week 6. Matt Prater is now a Detroit Lion. After serving a 4 game suspension earlier in the season, Prater has been cut and resigned by a kicker-desperate Lions team. Looking back at Lions games thus far, their kickers could have put up 53 fantasy points if they were accurate (by week - 13, 9, 9, 8, 15). Those point totals would rank a competent Detroit kicker as the #3 ranked kicker overall this season. Snag him as a sleeper off the waiver wire if you're not happy with your kicker production.

Floor: Medium, Ceiling: Very High

Mohamed Sanu (WR, CIN)

51% Owned in Fleaflicker Leagues

Initial reports on A.J. Green’s foot injury are not that good, and Marvin Jones is still battling a setback from his ankle injury so he's not expected to play this Sunday. This leaves Mohammed Sanu as Andy Dalton’s best option in the passing game this week, and he could have tremendous upside in PPR leagues. Sanu is coming of his best game of the season where he put up a 5/70/1 line including 9 targets. This may be a week where he is peppered with passing targets, and can even exceed that total for fantasy owners. He's a solid waiver wire pickup and start for Week 6.

Floor: Medium, Ceiling: Very High

Jordan Reed (TE, WAS)

58% Owned in Fleaflicker Leagues

Jordan Reed is expected to return from a hamstring injury this week, likely sending Niles Paul to the bench. Reed could immediately slide in as Kirk Cousins #1 passing target as he loves looking to his tight ends often. Washington’s matchup this week doesn’t hurt either, as the Cardinals currently give up the 5th most points to TEs in PPR leagues. Be sure to monitor Reed and confirm he is starting on Sunday before you put him into your lineups, but he can be a great waiver wire add and start if he was dropped in your fantasy league.

Floor: Low, Ceiling: Very High

Allen Robinson (WR, JAX)

14% Owned in Fleaflicker Leagues

Allen Robinson is still locked and loaded as the #1 receiving option in the Jaguars passing game under Blake Bortles, over other guys like Cecil Shorts and Allen Hurns. Although some of the other receivers will be returning this week, Robinson still offers plenty of sleeper value in PPR leagues.  I’ll be rolling with Robinson in a few leagues as his high number of targets will continue since Bortles took over (10, 7, 11) . If Robinson could corral a few more of those targets, he could have some huge upside this week as the Titans are giving up the 12th most points to wide receivers.

Floor: Medium, Ceiling: High

Jarius Wright (WR, MIN)

6% Owned in Fleaflicker Leagues

As we look forward to the Teddy Bridgewater era, we have already had a glimpse of what he could do for the Vikings passing game. No, not necessarily for Corderrelle Patterson or Greg Jennings, but for Jarius Wright. Wright and Bridgewater worked often together on the second unit in the early part of the season, and already have great chemistry. When Bridgewater becomes the QB again in Week 6 (he was out with injury on short a Week 5), look for him to target Wright all game long. We could even see a bigger game then the 21 points he put up in Week 4, if the game plan stays the same and Norv Turner ensures Wright is on the field. Wright is a high risk, high reward play, but is a sneak waiver wire add and start for PPR leagues.

Floor: Low, Ceiling: Very High
