NBA Fantasy Shopper: DFS Lineup Picks for DraftStreet 2/10

PG: Ricky Rubio ($13,048): Rubio has been on an absolute tear as of late.  In his last game, he put up a season-high 25 points against Portland in a game without Kevin Love, Kevin Martin or Nikola Pekovic.  He has scored 55 points in his last three games, which is a huge improvement from the 9 points per game he averages on the year.  He has also maintained a 8.2 assist per game average over that time, including 13 and 11 assists in two games last week.  Tonight’s matchup with Houston is a good one, as the Rockets not only give up close to 102 points a game but also turn the ball over at a high rate-- good news for the league leader in steals.

SG: Klay Thompson ($12,423): Even though Thompson has not quite lived up preseason hype, two big factors make him a good play tonight: a home game, where he plays much better, and a meeting with the Sixers, who are by far the worst defensive team in the NBA.  Thompson has scored double figures in nine straight games, but his other stats have been a bit lacking-- he has not had a game of over five assists in nearly a month, while also only bringing in just two rebounds per contest. This play is purely based on the matchup, but he should still be able to cover his price.

SF: Corey Brewer ($8,316): The main beneficiary of the Kevin Martin injury is likely going to be Brewer.  In the Wolves first game without their top shooter, Brewer stepped up for 26 points and 7 rebounds against the Blazers.  Even though he best known for his defense, Brewer has shot 52% from the floor over the last month, which could mean big things if he begins to shoot more than the eight times per game that he is currently averaging.  Like Rubio, Brewer should be able to take advantage of a Rockets team that likes to turn the ball over.

PF: Tim Duncan ($18,184): The future Hall of Famer continues to put up amazing numbers.  Duncan has five double-doubles in his past six games, including a stellar 31-point, 11-rebound, 5-assist, 3-block and 2-steal game last week against the Wizards.  Having missed one game last week for rest, he should not be in jeopardy of missing tonight’s game against the Pistons.  Detroit has a solid set of big men, but does allow 103 points per game on 47% shooting from the floor on the year.  The San Antonio big man should be in line for a monster night.

C: Dwight Howard ($19,101): In Houston, Dwight Howard has been showing everyone why he still should be considered the best center in fantasy basketball.  He has scored over 20 points in five straight games, while also grabbing 10+ rebounds in eight of his past 10 games.  Along with that, he is working on a streak of eight consecutive games with at least one block.  You could not ask for a much better matchup tonight than a Timberwolves team that allows 102 points a game and is missing Nikola Pekovic.  Howard should easily put up a 20-point, 10-rebound, and 4-block game tonight.

U: Evan Fournier ($8,118): Fournier’s value is directly tied to the absence of Ty Lawson.  With Lawson expected to miss the game with a broken rib, Fournier should be in for a big minutes boost playing alongside Randy Foye in the Nuggets backcourt.  In two games in late January, Fournier started and was able to post a combined 37 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals.  Even with a tough matchup against Indiana, Fournier should be able to top his low value if Lawson does in fact miss this game.
