Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football waiver wire outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider adding off waivers in Week 5:
Chris Rodriguez Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. has now scored a touchdown in back-to-back games, making him an appealing option for fantasy managers seeking a higher-ceiling player on the waiver wire. The waiver wire can run pretty dry at times, and the opportunity to get someone with touchdowns in two consecutive games doesn't come around very often.
That's why Rodriguez is worth adding, despite the fact that he has just 14 touches over his last two games and hasn't played more than 25% of the snaps since Week 1. We expect Rodriguez's touchdown streak to earn him more volume going forward, and he might even find the end zone again. Plus, even in the worst-case scenario, he's still a solid handcuff given his role in a highly productive offense.
Romeo Doubs, New England Patriots
New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs is starting to get into a rhythm with quarterback Drake Maye after a rough start to the season, and he's worth a look if you need wide receiver help from the waiver wire. Doubs started the year with a tough drop and a zero-catch game in Seattle but has been looking more comfortable in the Pats' offense the last few weeks.
Against the Bills in Week 4, he led the team with six catches on a team-high nine targets, and he hauled in a pair of touchdowns to help his team pull off the road upset in the division. Doubs got some extra attention after Mack Hollins (calf) left the game with an injury, and he had a big fantasy performance as a result, even if Efton Chism III stole the headlines with his spectacular, game-winning touchdown grab.
With Hollins uncertain for this week's contest against the Raiders and A.J. Brown (ankle) not eligible to return until Week 6, Doubs is a strong plug-and-play option from the waiver wire if available. Even though the Raiders have been solid against wide receivers this season, Doubs should be in position to get enough volume to still be a starting option in most formats.
Tre' Harris, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Tre' Harris has been the team's leading receiver this season and could see an even bigger role in Week 5. Through four games, Harris has caught 13 of 21 targets for 209 yards, including more than 60 yards in back-to-back games. In last week's 30-23 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Harris played 66 of 71 snaps (93%) and ran 39 of 43 routes (91%), both leading the team.
With Ladd McConkey (foot) uncertain to play in Week 5, Harris could become Justin Herbert's clear number one receiver. With the Denver Broncos next up and star cornerback Pat Surtain (ankle) unlikely to play, Harris could be in line for a solid outing in Week 5. Fantasy managers should add Harris as both a short-term and long-term option this season.
Will Shipley, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley has seen most of his usage on special teams since entering the NFL in 2024, recording just 76 total touches across 35 career games with the Eagles. However, the 24-year-old could get his chance to lead the Philadelphia backfield in the team's upcoming Week 5 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Eagles running back Saquon Barkley (hamstring) is considered unlikely to play against Jacksonville with a hamstring injury, and RB2 Tank Bigsby (core) is set to undergo core muscle surgery and will be placed on Injured Reserve. As a result, Shipley could be called upon to play a three-down role against the Jaguars. In leagues where he remains available on the waiver wire, Shipley profiles as a must-add running back for fantasy managers.
Dohnte Meyers, Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals rookie wide receiver Dohnte Meyers had a breakout game in his team's Week 4 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, recording seven catches for 82 yards on nine targets. Meyers got his chance to play after star Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase (concussion) was forced to leave the game with a concussion.
Coming out of Week 4, Chase is currently in concussion protocol, and fellow Cincinnati wideout Tee Higgins (adductor) is reportedly battling an adductor strain. If both Chase and Higgins can play in the Bengals' Week 5 matchup against the Miami Dolphins, Meyers may be hard-pressed to see fantasy-relevant target volume.
However, if one or both of Chase and Higgins is inactive, Meyers could be one of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow's top targets against Miami. Given the injury uncertainty in Cincinnati, Meyers profiles as a top waiver wire target for fantasy managers ahead of Week 5.
Joe Mixon, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks running back Joe Mixon is worth a speculative waiver claim now that his comeback has a real landing spot. Seattle is in the process of signing the 30-year-old to its practice squad after Monday's workout, pending the completion of his medical evaluation. Mixon has not played since the 2024 season after a foot injury wiped out all of 2025, so there is no reason to expect immediate volume.
Still, the upside is easy to understand. He rushed for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games for Houston the last time he was healthy and added 309 receiving yards. Seattle is also thin at running back with Jadarian Price on injured reserve, while Zach Charbonnet will not return in Week 5.
Emanuel Wilson just strengthened his grip on the short-term role with a big game, so Mixon is not a priority add. In 12-team leagues, though, he is worth stashing while Seattle sees what he has left.
