Today's free NBA DFS picks for DraftKings, FanDuel (April 8, 2026). Jamie's daily fantasy basketball lineups, values, stacks, pivots, sleepers for NBA DFS.
We've officially reached that time of year, RotoBallers. Tanking teams are getting even tankier, as the top value of the night last night became (checks notes) Hunter Dickinson. As it turned out, Dickinson wasn't even a good play as he didn't start and barely was able to crack the rotation over Kevon Looney (who I also forgot was still a thing).
Use extra caution when choosing your lineups. It's not really the best practice to play cash games anymore, as the collective floors are a lot more volatile these days. If you DO decide to play, however, make sure to put a lot of thought into whose minutes are still predictable. We are in the RotoBaller Discord every day to try to make your DFS lives easier.

NBA DFS Core Picks
Jalen Johnson, PF on DK, SF/PF on FD
- DraftKings: $10,300
- FanDuel: $10,500
It's critical at this stage of the season to find stars on teams that are still playing for something. The surging Hawks have shot past a ton of teams and now hold the #5 seed in the Eastern Conference. While they can't move up to the #4 seed and get a home game, they should still be fighting to maintain their spot.
This game against the Cavs is currently a preview of the first-round matchup, so both should be all out (the Cavs are still trying to move up anyway). Jalen Johnson's price tag is not reflective of the season he's had, as he's averaging 50.5 DK PPG with a 27% usage rate. Few teams have been better defensively over the last month than the Hawks have been, and their new system has parlayed itself into extra offensive opportunities for Johnson.
Over the past ten games, Johnson has averaged 21.4 PPG, 9.8 RPG, and 7.4 APG, making him a rock-solid floor/ceiling play to start your cash games and GPPs with.

De'Aaron Fox, SAS - PG
- DraftKings: $6,800
- FanDuel: $7,200
Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle are both doubtful for the Spurs as they take on the Portland Trailblazers tonight, which means De'Aaron Fox steps into a spotlight role. It's highly possible the Spurs rest more players tonight as they're basically locked into the #2 seed at this point, but for now, Fox is a core piece.
With Wemby and Castle off the court, Fox enjoys a 31% usage rate while averaging 1.3 FPPM. Even if he only goes for 25 minutes, that level of play is enough to pay off his depressed price tag. Portland has dipped in defensive efficiency as of late, ranking 23rd over the past ten games as they fight to maintain their standing in the play-in tournament.
