Roman Anthony 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Former Top Prospect Carries Lofty Expectations
Entering the 2025 season, Roman Anthony was considered the top prospect in baseball by most rankers. And once he debuted for Boston in June, the 21-year-old outfielder did not disappoint. In 303 plate appearances, Anthony slashed .292/.396/.463 with 48 runs, eight home runs, 32 RBI, and four steals. A near-.400 OBP as a rookie is truly remarkable, and Anthony is just scratching the surface of his massive potential. Even more impressive than the .396 OBP was Anthony's ridiculous 60.3% hard-hit rate, which led the league for hitters with at least 300 plate appearances. Add in a 15.5% barrel rate and 94.5 mph AVG EV, and Anthony had one of the best quality of contact seasons we've ever seen from a rookie. He'll need to improve the batted ball angles to fully maximize his power, but the upside for 30-homers is there to pair with a decent average, high OBP, and plenty of runs and RBI hitting high in Boston's lineup.
