William Contreras 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Top Catcher Option Despite a Slow Start in 2025
The Milwaukee Brewers' 28-year-old catcher, William Contreras, had a down season by his standards in 2025, slashing .260/.355/.399 with 17 home runs, 89 runs scored, and 76 RBI. Contreras had a lingering finger injury for most of the 2025 season, but turned it on in the second half, as he hit 11 of his 17 home runs in July and August, hit .283 in July, .279 in August, and .266 in September. According to Fangraphs Roster Resource, Contreras is slated to hit in the middle of the Brewers lineup behind Jackson Chourio and Brice Turang, which should provide plenty of opportunities for him to drive in runs and get back to his 2024 form, where he had 23 home runs, 92 RBI, and hit .281 with a .831 OPS. In addition to his counting stats, Contreras also has solid plate discipline, as he had a 12.7 percent walk rate (90th percentile) and had an above-average 18.2 percent strikeout rate (68th percentile). That makes him a viable option in all league formats. Currently, RotoBaller ranks him as the No. 3 catcher, while NFBC ADP ranks him as the No. 2 catcher and 48.0 overall, clearly cementing himself as a top option at the position.
