Garrett Nussmeier Doubtful to Play Against Western Kentucky
LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier (abdominal) is doubtful for Saturday's game against Western Kentucky, according to interim head coach Frank Wilson. Nussmeier did not play last week, and sophomore Michael Van Buren Jr. drew the start. Van Buren completed 21 of his 31 passing attempts for 221 yards and one touchdown in the one-point win over Arkansas. It appears Nussmeier will not play in his final opportunity at Tiger Stadium, and he could be held out of next week's game at Oklahoma. The Louisiana native entered 2025 as a potential first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but his stock has taken a hit after his productivity cratered from last season, thanks to injuries and offensive line play.
