Joe Mixon Injury Update
Since mid-October, the Texans have not provided any update on the veteran's timeline. Last month, the team's general manager, Nick Caserio, noted that his status for the remainder of the campaign was "in limbo." Given that they have not provided any major update since this report, it suggests they have not made any substantial progress and sis likely facing a tougher battle to return to the field.
Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but given the lack of updates, Mixon will likely not return to the field by the end of the regular season.

Joe Mixon Fantasy Football Outlook
Given the lack of updates on his progression, fantasy managers should not expect him to hold much value during the second half. Due to the strong possibility that he does not have to take the field, managers should feel comfortable cutting ties with the 29-year-old in all formats.
While he is still IR-eligible in all leagues and could be a worthy stash in deeper 14+ team leagues, managers should instead pivot to the IR-eligible players that have a much clearer timeline. Players like Brandon Aiyuk or Jayden Reed have a much stronger chance to return this season as they are quickly nearing their practice window.

When looking at the running back position, managers should look to drop Mixon in favor of high-upside No. 2 options who could become must-start players if their starter were to miss time, like Kimani Vidal has become. Some examples include Devin Neal, Brian Robinson Jr., Blake Corum, and Isaiah Davis.
While Mixon remains sidestepping, Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks will continue to lead the Houston backfield in a near split committee.
