Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 8:
Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love looks to get back on track as a fantasy-worthy quarterback when the Packers head to Acrisure Stadium to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. Love has just one finish above QB13 this season, as he's been very disappointing for fantasy outside of the 40-40 tie with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4.
Not only is there not enough pass volume to go around, but Love has been unable to take full advantage of most of the good matchups he has. While he performed well against the Cowboys, he was just QB19 against the Cincinnati Bengals at home. In a great matchup against the Steelers in Week 8, who give up the most passing yards to fantasy quarterbacks, Love is merely a low-end streaming quarterback.
Daniel Jones, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones continued his bounce-back season in a Week 7 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, throwing for 288 yards and two touchdowns. Jones has been impressive this season, passing for 1,790 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions while adding four rushing touchdowns.
He will look to keep it going at home in Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have been tough on quarterbacks this season, allowing just the 25th-most fantasy points per game to the position thus far, although some of that comes from a weak Titans offense that doesn't challenge opposing passing offenses to keep their foot on the gas.
At the helm at what has been a dominant offense this season, Jones is a locked-in QB1 heading into Week 8 against Tennessee.
Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (knee, oblique) is ready to go for the Week 8 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Mayfield is a little banged up right now, but that's not going to stop him from suiting up. The 28-year-old wasn't able to offer much to fantasy managers last week. Mayfield threw for 228 passing yards with one touchdown and one interception in the loss to the Detroit Lions.
As always, Mayfield will be playing shorthanded with Chris Godwin (leg), Mike Evans (collarbone), and Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder) all sidelined. However, the Bucs will still have Emeka Egbuka, so Mayfield should be able to offer QB1 value against the below average Saints defense.
Tyrod Taylor, New York Jets
New York Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor (knee) will be difficult to bet on if he plays in Week 8 when his team takes on the hosting Cincinnati Bengals. The Jets are lined up for a juicy matchup against one of the league's worst defensive units. However, it's unclear who will be New York's starting quarterback. Justin Fields has all but played himself out of a job, but Taylor, who is questionable, is dealing with a knee issue that's kept him to a limited status at practice this week.
If the 36-year-old does end up leading the offense, fantasy managers can take a chance on him as a streamer in superflex/2QB formats, particularly against a vulnerable Bengals defense. Cincinnati is allowing the third-most passing yards (257.1) and eighth-most fantasy points per game to QBs. Taylor ranks as RotoBaller's QB22 ahead of Sunday's outing.
Mac Jones, San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones (knee, oblique) will see his sixth start of the season as Brock Purdy (toe) has been ruled out once again. Jones' record improved to 4-1 after last week's win over the Atlanta Falcons, despite it being his least productive game of the season, finishing 17-for-26 with 152 yards and one interception. In Week 8, Jones will be up against the Houston Texans, who feature one of the best defenses in the league in 2025.
The Texans have allowed the fewest points in the league, the second-worst collective completion percentage for opposing quarterbacks (57.8%), and just four passing touchdowns. Jones has worked his way into two top-12 finishes already this year, but with another potential defensive slog in the works, he ranks as a mid-range QB2.
Jones should be kept out of starting lineups in Week 8, though he deserves consideration in two-QB and superflex formats.
