NHL Power Rankings: Every Team From Worst to First

The 2025 NHL Season is well underway, and it is time to update our power rankings. Who has gotten off to an impressive start? Which teams are free-falling in our rankings? Let us know where we went wrong in the comments!

Note – All Statistics/Records are Updated as of Monday, 10/20 AM

Macklin Celebrini - Fantasy Hockey Rankings, NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey

No. 32 - San Jose Sharks

The Sharks remain the only winless team in the league. This week, the Sharks dropped three games, all in regulation. In addition, they lost all three of these games by at least three goals. Breakout star Macklin Celebrini tallied two points during their loss to the Utah Mammoth on Friday and punched in his first goal.

Nazem Kadri - NHL DFS lineup picks daily fantasy hockey

No. 31- Calgary Flames

Since winning their opening game of the season, the Flames have dropped their last five contests. During this underwhelming stretch of play, the Flames have never scored more than two goals in a single game and have allowed at least four goals in all but one contest. Young netminder Dustin Wolf is having a disappointing start to the campaign, as he holds a modest .854% SV% with a 4.30 GAA.

Tage Thompson - NHL DFS Picks, Daily Fantasy Hockey

No. 30 - Buffalo Sabres

After dropping their first game of the week to the high-powered Colorado Avalanche, the Sabres began to find their footing, defeating the Senators and most recently, the Florida Panthers on Saturday. In these two games, the Sabres put 11 pucks in the back of the net. During the two-game stretch, Jason Zucker has led the way, netting two goals, with three total points.

Goaltender Alex Lyon posted one of the top performances of the season with a 32-save shutout against the Panthers.

Ilya Sorokin - Fantasy Hockey Rankings NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey

No. 29 - New York Islanders

After losing their first three games, the Islanders were finally able to find themselves in the win column. On Thursday, they defeated the Oilers and extended their winning streak to two games on Saturday in a 5-4 victory over the Senators. While goaltender Ilya Sorokin has allowed at least four goals in each outing, the offense has been able to support him.

Bo Horvat has found the back of the net four times this week.

Brady Tkachuk - NHL DFS Picks, Daily Fantasy Hockey

No. 28 - Ottawa Senators

The Senators were also only able to pick up one victory this week, posting a 1-3 record. However, most of their struggles have come on the defensive side of the game, as they have surrendered 20 goals over these four games. During their loss to the Sabres on Wednesday, they surrendered eight goals.

After a strong showing in the first season in Ottawa, Linus Ullmark is off to a slow start this season, carrying a 3.99 GAA and an .848% SV%.

Leo Carlsson - Fantasy Hockey Rankings NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey - icon rotoballer

No. 27 - Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks opened the week with an impressive last-minute victory as the Penguins when veteran Chris Kreider netted the game-winner late in the third period. However, they would then drop their second seed to the high-flying Carolina Hurricanes, who appear to be legit Stanley Cup contenders.

On Sunday, the Ducks dropped their second-straight game, this time to the Blackhawks in overtime by a score of 2-1.

Adrian Kempe - Fantasy Hockey Rankings NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey

No. 26 - Los Angeles Kings

The Kings were able to escape Week 2 with two overtime loser points but still finished without a victory. In fact, their only victory so far has come against the Golden Knights in overtime in Week 1. While their offense has struggled at times through the opening month, Kevin Fiala has been very productive, scoring four goals (five points) through six games.

Jake Guentzel - NHL DFS daily fantasy hockey lineup picks

No. 25 - Tampa Bay Lightning

The Lightning are the lone team in the Eastern Conference that has just one win through the first two weeks of the campaign. While they were able to pick up two “loser” overtime points, they have fallen well short of their expectations. The one bright spot on their roster has been left winger Jake Guentzel, who has tallied six points in six games.

Given the experience on this roster, expect them to continue to right the ship in the coming weeks.

Matvei Michkov - Fantasy Hockey Rankings NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey

No. 24 - Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers have had a rough schedule through the opening weeks. However, they stand with a 2-2-1 record, despite facing the reigning Stanley Cup Champions twice, traveling to Raleigh, and hosting the Wild and the Jets.

They picked up an impressive 2-1 OT victory over the Wild on Saturday. In this contest, Dan Vladar picked up his second victory of the campaign and sits with an impressive .934% SV%.

Filip Forsberg NHL DFS lineup picks daily fantasy hockey

No. 23 - Nashville Predators

The Predators needed a strong start to the week, defeating the Ottawa Senators on Monday. However, the Predators would then lose their next three games, with two of them in regulation. Goaltender Juuse Saros allowed seven goals over his last two outings and hit a bit of a skid after posting a dominant 1.61 GAA over his first three outings of the campaign.

Connor Bedard - NHL DFS Picks, Daily Fantasy Hockey

No. 22 - Chicago Blackhawks

After going winless in the opening week, the Blackhawks have begun to find their footing. They picked up two straight victories over the Mammoth and the Blues to open the week before falling short to the Vancouver Canucks in a shootout loss on Friday evening. Connor Bedard has led the way in this recent segment, which was highlighted by a three-assist game on Wednesday.

They were able to end the week on a high note by picking up an overtime victory over the Ducks on Sunday evening. Bedard logged nine shots in this game and Ryan Donato tallied two points.

Karel-Vejmelka - Fantasy Hockey Rankings NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey - icon rotoballer

No. 21 - Utah Mammoth

The Mammoth continued their solid start ot the campaign by going 3-1 during Week 2. After losing their opening match of the week to the Blackhawks, the Mammoth posted three-straight victories to finish the week. Goaltender Karel Vejmelka went 2-0 this week and held a stellar .902% SVG with a 2.01 GAA.

Nick Schmaltz enjoyed an outstanding week on offense, posting a hat trick on Friday and tallying seven total points.

Kirill Marchenko - Fantasy Hockey Rankings - NHL DFS Picks - DFS Hockey

No. 20 - Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets were able to end the week on a high note by defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday evening. During their first two games, they lost in regulation to the New Jersey Devils and the Colorado Avalanche. After scoring eight goals in their first two games, the Blue Jackets have gone a bit cold, tallying only six goals over their last three.

Kirill Kaprizov - NHL DFS Picks, Daily Fantasy Hockey

No. 19 - Minnesota Wild

After a strong showing in Week 1, the Wild will take a bit of a dip in the power rankings after posting a 1-2-1 record. Their lone victory came in a shootout on Monday against the Los Angeles Kings. The Wild would then drop their next three games and only escaped one of them with an overtime point. Their offense went quiet in these games, scoring just four total goals.

Jordan Binnington - NHL DFS Lineup Picks, Daily Fantasy Hockey

No. 18 - St. Louis Blues

After allowing five goals in his season debut, Jordan Binnington has quickly flipped the script in Week 2. He picked up a victory in both of his victories this week and stopped 45 of the 48 shots he saw in these games en route to defeating the Dallas Stars and the Vancouver Canucks. Their lone loss this week came at the hands of the Blackhawks on Wednesday evening.

Auston Matthews NHL DFS lineup picks daily fantasy hockey

No. 17 - Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs were able to pick up one point in all but one of their four games this week. Their lone regulation loss came at the hands of the Red Wings on Monday. However, the following day, the Leafs would put up seven goals on the Nashville Predators. Auston Matthews has tallied one point in each game this week and has found the back of the net three times.

Nick Suzuki - Fantasy Hockey Rankings, NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey

No. 16- Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens continue their impressive start to the season, going 2-1 this week. Both of their victories came in overtime. Their loss came at the hands of the New York Rangers in a close 4-3 game on Saturday. Nick Suzuki has been the catalyst of the offensive attack, tallying seven helpers, and recently netted his first goal on Saturday.

Quinn Hughes - Fantasy Hockey Rankings NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey

No. 15 - Vancouver Canucks

After losing their opening game of the week on Monday to the St. Louis Blues, the Canucks rebounded well, picking up a victory in each of their next three games. They were able to defeat top teams, such as the Washington Capitals and the Dallas Stars. Star defenseman Quinn Hughes has begun to catch fire, tallying three points in his last two games.

Sam Bennett - NHL DFS Lineup Picks, Hockey

No. 14- Florida Panthers

After going 3-0 in Week 1, the Panthers took a big step back in Week 2, going 0-4 and losing each game in regulation. During this rough skid, the Panthers have allowed 15 goals and have only scored four. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is coming off his worst showing of the young season, in which he allowed three goals on 31 shots to the Buffalo Sabres.

With their long list of injuries, the Panthers may continue to slide in the early part of the season.

Artemi Panarin - NHL DFS Lineup Picks, Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks

No. 13 - New York Rangers

The Rangers were finally able to break out of their scoring slump by scoring four goals during the victory over the Canadiens on Saturday. Before Saturday, the Rangers scored more than two goals in just two games. While their offense is slowly finding its footing in the Mike Sullivan system, Igor Shesterkin appears to be in prime form, holding a remarkable 1.00 GAA and a .962% SV%.

No. 12 - Boston Bruins

The Bruins took a step back this weekend, especially following their 3-0 start last week. In Week 2, the Bruins regresed, losing all four of their games in regulation. However, they lost three of them by just one goal, suggesting better days could be ahead.

Netminder Jeremy Swayman did not have his best showings, as he allowed a hefty nine goals on the 74 shots he faced this week. If Swayman can rebound, expect Boston to enjoy a strong Week 3.

Matty Beniers - Fantasy Hockey Rankings NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey - icon rotoballer

No. 11 - Seattle Kraken

The Kraken extended their point streak in Week 2, going 1-0-2. Through two weeks, the Kraken have yet to lose in regulation and hold a solid 3-0-2 record. Netminder Joey Daccord is enjoying a stellar start to the campaign and enters Week 3 holding a 2.39 GAA and a .912% SV% and is an early-season sleeper for the Vezina.

The fourth overall pick from the 2022 NHL Draft, Shane Wright, is cruising, riding a three-game point streak as well.

Connor McDavid - NHL DFS lineup picks daily fantasy hockey

No. 10 - Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers opened the week picking up a dominant 2-0 victory over the Rangers in MSG, but then dropped their next three to fall to a 2-3-1 record. Superstar Connor McDavid has tallied seven helpers (and at least one point in each game) but has yet to find the back of the net this season.

While they had a disappointing week, goaltender Stuart Skinner appears to be playing his best hockey, as he enters Week 3 carrying a strong .921% SV%, which is on pace to be the best of his career.

sidney crosby NHL DFS daily fantasy hockey lineup picks

No. 9 - Pittsburgh Penguins

All the Penguins needed was a new voice behind the bench and an injection of youth. Through the first two weeks under Dan Muse, the Penguins have gone 4-2, including 2-1 over the past week. Rookies Ben Kindell and Harrison Brunicke have looked like early-season Calder favorites and could be the key for Pittsburgh to return to the postseason.

Jason Robertson -Fantasy Hockey Rankings - NHL DFS Picks - DFS Hockey

No. 8 - Dallas Stars

The Stars took a bit of a step back this week, going 1-2. Their lone victory came against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday. However, they would then drop their next two games, as both in regulation to the Canucks and the Blues. Goaltender Jake Oettinger took his first loss of the campaign during the game against the Blues. However, he still enters Week 3 riding a strong .905% SV%.

Alex DeBrincat - Fantasy Hockey Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NHL Injury News

No. 7 - Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings enjoyed a perfect week and continue to climb these rankings. The Red Wings went 4-0 and picked up some impressive victories over top teams like the Oilers, Panthers, and Maple Leafs. After a rough start to the season, John Gibson showed why the Red Wings went out to acquire him this summer.

In their victory over the Lightning, he stopped 31 of the 32 shots he saw. Then on Sunday, he allowed only two goals against the Oilers.

Connor McMichael - Fantasy Hockey Rankings, NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey

No. 6 - Washington Capitals

After picking up two victories earlier in the week, they saw their win streak come to an end on Sunday against the Vancouver Cancuks. Overall, the Captials will enter Week 3 holding a 4-2 record. Dylan Strome ended a much-needed bounce-back performance this week after being held off the scoresheet in each of his first three games.

During their two victories, Strome racked up six points, including two goals.

Jack Hughes - NHL DFS lineup picks daily fantasy hockey

No. 5 - New Jersey Devils

The Devils enjoyed an impressive week, going a perfect 3-0, including victories against the Oilers and Panthers. Dawson Mercer played a lead role in the offensive department this week, punching in three goals. In addition, top center Jack Hughes is currently riding a three-game point streak, which was highlighted by a three-point performance in their victory over the Oilers.

The Devils are emerging as legit contenders in the Eastern Conference.

No. 4- Winnipeg Jets

After dropping their season opener to the Dallas Stars, the Jets have picked up four straight victories and look like top contenders in the Western Conference. This week, their victors came against the Islanders, Flyers, and the Predators. Top center Mark Scheifele has led the way in the scoring, tallying an eye-catching six goals in just five games.

Mark Stone - Fantasy Hockey Rankings NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey

No. 3- Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights have yet to lose in regulation and enjoyed a dominant week, especially when looking at their offense production. In three games, the Knights picked up three regulation wins and found the back of the net 16 times. Their entire top-6 have gotten involved on the scoreboard with Tomas Hertl netting three goals, Mark Stone tallying 13 points, and Mitch Marner adding eight points.

Nathan MacKinnon NHL DFS lineup picks daily fantasy hockey

No. 2 - Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche sit at the top of the Western Conference, boasting a 5-0-1 record. Despite not having their top netminder, Mackenzie Blackwood, the Avalanche have looked nothing short of dominant through the first two weeks of action. Nathan MacKinnon looks like the favorite to secure the Hart Trophy as he has scored six goals and tallied four assists.

Top defender Cale Makar has chipped in seven points as well.

Seth Jarvis - Fantasy Hockey Rankings, NHL DFS Picks, DFS Hockey

No. 1 - Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes enter Week 3 carrying a perfect 5-0 record. During the opening weeks, the Hurricanes have held a stellar 12+ GD and have only surrendered 11 total goals. This week, the Hurricanes allowed just one goal in both of their games. Right-wing Seth Jarvis has been on fire, scoring an impressive six goals and adding two helpers.
