Washington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin (lower body) is expected to play in Thursday's preseason contest against the Boston Bruins, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports. The Capitals have included Ovechkin in the roster for the game. This is great news from a fantasy perspective, considering Ovechkin has been dealing with a lower-body injury during training camp, leaving his status for opening night uncertain. Assuming he comes through the action unscathed, Ovechkin should be ready for the first game of the season next week, and he might even see some additional time on the ice during Washington's final preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets this weekend.--Taavi Pailk
