Aleksander Barkov to Miss 7-9 Months
Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (knee) has been ruled out for 7-9 months. He underwent surgery on his ACL and MCL in his right knee on Friday. The official timeline confirms initial fears that the Panthers captain must sit out the entire 2025-26 regular season. Barkov might also not make it back in time for the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. "There's no hiding it, that's a hole," Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said about Barkov's absence. Anton Lundell looks poised to have a larger role this season, and his line with Eetu Luostarinen and Brad Marchand could become Florida's de facto second line.
