Kaleb Johnson - Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Fantasy Football Picks for Week 1 (2025)

Kaleb Johnson - College Football Rankings, NCAA CFB DFS Lineup Picks - NFL Draft

Kaleb Johnson start 'em, sit 'em fantasy football picks for Week 1 of 2025. Should you start or sit Kaleb Johnson for fantasy football lineups in Week 1?

BALLER MOVE: Start in 14+ team leagues

POSITIONAL VALUE: Upside RB4

ANALYSIS: After opting not to re-sign longtime starting running back Najee Harris in free agency, the Steelers found their potential next franchise option in Kaleb Johnson in the third round of the NFL draft. Johnson spent his entire three-year college career at Iowa.

During his final season, Johnson took a significant step forward, totaling a career-best 1,537 yards and 21 rushing scores. Both of these marks led the Big Ten Conference.

While Johnson appears to have the potential to become an NFL-caliber starting running back eventually, the Steelers will likely ease him into action. Throughout the preseason, the rookie was typically deployed behind Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell, both of whom have much more experience at the professional level.

In fact, during their final preseason contest, Johnson was the third running back to enter the game.

While the 22-year-old is expected to take on a larger role as the season progresses, for the time being, he is tough to trust in standard formats. Given that he will likely operate in a three-man committee early on, he is best to leave on your bench in all 12-team formats. He should be viewed as a desperation flex option/RB4 in deep 14+ team leagues facing the New York Jets.
