Tigers Acquire Paul Sewald From Guardians
The Detroit Tigers have acquired right-hander Paul Sewald (shoulder) from the Guardians ahead of the MLB trade deadline. The return package has not been announced. Sewald is currently on the injured list with a moderate teres major strain, and hasn't pitched since July 12. In 18 appearances this season, he owns a 4.70 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and strong 29% strikeout rate, while holding hitters to a 32.5% hard-hit rate. Once healthy, Sewald should slide into high-leverage work for Detroit and be a valuable bullpen piece during the fantasy playoffs. A return in August remains the most likely timeline.
