Troy Melton to be Called Up, Will Start on Wednesday for Tigers
Troy Melton will be called up from Triple-A Toledo for what will be his major league debut and will draw the start against the Pirates on Wednesday in Pittsburgh. The Tigers' 10th-ranked prospect pitched well enough at Double-A earlier in the season to earn a promotion to Triple-A, where he's excelled to the tune of a 2.72 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and an elite 31.8 percent K-BB% in six starts (eight appearances, 36 1/3 innings pitched). Pittsburgh is generating the fewest runs per game in all of baseball this year (3.33 runs/game), even fewer over the last three (2.33), and they own the third-lowest batting average against right-handed pitchers, so interested fantasy managers could take a flier on the 24-year-old as it sets up as a favorable matchup.
