Juwan Johnson 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Slated For More Targets?
Juwan Johnson is coming off a 2024 season where he caught the most balls and had the most receiving yards of his career, with 50 catches for 548 yards in 17 games. He finished the year on a relatively high note, recording the sixth most receiving yards (235) among tight ends over the final five weeks. The Saints then inked him to a three year, $30.75 million dollar contract in free agency. The deal included $21.25 million guaranteed, which is the ninth highest among tight ends in the league. The deal suggests that the 29-year-old is in line to fully operate as the starter in 2025, something that hasn't been the case up until this point in his career as he has only started in 34 of 67 games played. He finds himself reunited with former college teammate Tyler Shough, who looks to be the Saints signal caller for the 2025 season. That prior connection could enable him to emerge in a Saints passing attack outside of Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. Johnson was a former wide receiver in college and has some real dynamism for a guy his size. The opportunity is there for Johnson to produce which makes him an interesting TE2 target in deeper formats.
