Kenley Jansen Blows Save in Loss
Kenley Jansen suffered his first blown save of the season Sunday in a 7-4 loss to the Washington Nationals. Jansen came in to pitch the top of the ninth with a 4-3 lead and proceeded to allow one run on two hits with an intentional walk and a strikeout. The Angels would go on to lose in the 11th. Jansen had converted all 15 save attempts before Sunday, but he did so despite putting up uninspiring numbers. Through 28 2/3 innings this season, the 37-year-old has posted career worsts in ERA (4.40), strikeouts per nine (8.16 K/9), and WHIP (1.36). That output isn't indicative of a lockdown closer, though Jansen does have a secure hold on the Angels' job.
