Nicolas Roy Avoids Suspension
Vegas Golden Knights center Nicolas Roy will not be suspended for Game 3 against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night. He was in danger of a suspension for cross-checking Oilers forward Trent Frederic in the face during overtime in Game 2 of the second-round series. After a disciplinary hearing with Roy, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced a fine of $7,813 for him, the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement. Roy is a versatile forward who can move up and down the lineup but has currently settled into a fourth-line center role. He has recorded three points (one goal, two assists) and 18 hits in eight postseason appearances this year, while winning an impressive 59.7 percent of his faceoffs.
