Von Miller Top Landing Spots: 2025 NFL Free Agency Outlook

Bills Defense - Von Miller IDP Rankings, D/ST Streamers, Fantasy Football Team Defense

Which teams are potential landing spots for Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller? John breaks down all the top landing spots for Von Miller.

Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller, one of the greatest pass-rushers in NFL history, was released by his team on March 9, 2025. He had signed a six-year, $120 million deal with the team in 2022, but the soon-to-be 36-year-old wasn't able to make it to the end of that contract, so he's now looking for a home somewhere else.

It's likely a cost-cutting measure. Miller would have made over $17 million in 2025, and the Bills are opening up more than $8 million in cap space by cutting him. It's likely a wise move by them, as Miller's play has seriously fallen off since his 2022 season. That year, he tore his ACL, and he later admitted during training camp for the 2024 season that it wasn't the wisest idea to play in 2023, when he didn't log a single sack.

How much that knee has recovered is obviously an important question. Players often play through serious injuries, and the additional stress and damage could have halted it from recovering fully. Perhaps no team is interested in his services at his age and with his injury history, but if he's willing to take a major pay cut, he could find a home somewhere. Let's break down the top landing spots for him for the 2025 NFL season.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Philadelphia Eagles

Miller's best hope for a few more years of playing is taking the aforementioned pay cut and being willing to play as a rotational piece in a pass-rush group. With the Eagles, he'd join one of the most formidable pass-rushes in the NFL, with a pass defense that can hold up long enough for the rushers to get extra time to get home, and force the quarterback to hold on to the ball for longer.

We saw quite a bit of this in Philly's monster blowout of the Kansas City Chiefs. While many point to the "18-point victory" as not terrible, Philadelphia was ahead 34-0 before they realized they would coast along and still win. Only then did the Chiefs start doing anything at all, and a lot of it was against backups. The most notable theme of the game was a dominant pass-rush that left quarterback Patrick Mahomes II constantly under duress, to fantastic results.

Miller recorded six sacks in 2024, and he likely wants to join a contender to ring-chase for one or two final years, so he'd be happy to join the Eagles, in my mind. They also lost quite a bit of talent along the defensive line -- specifically, defensive tackle Milton Williams signed with the New England Patriots, and defensive end Josh Sweat went to the Arizona Cardinals on a four-year contract.

Sweat and Williams combined for 13 sacks in 2024, and both had massive plays in the big game, so the Eagles will greatly miss their presence. And defensive end Brandon Graham, who will turn 36 years old, hasn't been extended yet, and is contemplating retirement. While the Eagles will presumably load up on pass-rushing talent in the 2025 NFL Draft, there may be too many holes for them to fill.

To me, this seems like the best fit for Miller. He was unlikely to win a Super Bowl with the Bills, since they're utterly incapable of beating Kansas City in the playoffs and refuse to fire their head coach, Sean McDermott. I'm not sure what their plan is keeping him aboard.

Washington Commanders

The Commanders are still flush with cap space, and bolstering their pass-rush with a short-term deal for Miller would probably be a good idea for them. They have a nice window with quarterback Jayden Daniels still being on his rookie contract, and before he gets his huge payday, it would make sense for them to follow the Eagles' blueprint. If they want to compete in the NFC East, they'll need a pass-rush that can overcome Philly's elite offensive line, too.

Washington was top-10 in the NFL in sack rate in 2024, so they could afford to use Miller rotationally, rather than full-time. The loss of defensive end Dante Fowler Jr., who signed with the Dallas Cowboys, also stings, and they'll need some help replacing him. Miller would be joining a fundamentally sound team, with great coaching on both sides of the ball, and being under the tutelage of head coach Dan Quinn would be ideal for the waning years of his career.

Quinn's got nothing but glowing reviews so far from current and former players, especially on defense, that have played for him.

Baltimore Ravens

The status of the Ravens as "contenders" is rightfully questioned by many, as their quarterback, Lamar Jackson, never fails to choke in the playoffs, no matter the situation. Miller would join one of the best defensive units in the league against the run, though, and perhaps could help them generate a bit more pressure on opposing quarterbacks, which would help them stay out of high-scoring games and stick with what they want to do -- run the ball as much as possible.

That wasn't always an option last season, as many teams had great success throwing the ball against them. Even heavily turnover-prone QBs like Jameis Winston of the Cleveland Browns had a huge day, throwing for 334 yards, three TDs, and no interceptions. But it was defensive coordinator Zachary Orr's first year with the team, and he should be able to improve in Year 2. Mike Macdonald, the DC for the Ravens in 2023, left for a head-coaching job for the Seattle Seahawks ahead of 2024.

A big problem for the Ravens in their poor playoff performances has been struggling to get pressure on opposing QBs. Miller should help with that. The Ravens sack leader in 2024, Kyle Van Noy, interestingly shares a birthday with Miller (March 26) and will be 34 years old on that date. The two could pair as veteran leaders and rotate in and out with each other, keeping each other fresh and allowing them to have more juice on their reps.

The Ravens are a very well-coached team overall, especially on defense. Orr's first season was solid from a pressure and run-defense standpoint, and Baltimore had the sixth-highest sack rate in the league in 2024. And the Ravens are likely a lock for the playoffs as long as they don't suffer a ton of injuries. Perhaps a better pass-rush could help Jackson finally win a game in which he plays poorly, and those seem bound to happen in the postseason, making this a great landing spot for Miller in one of his final years of the league, if he plays again.
