NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/7/24

Tonight, we have a twelve-game slate and one team playing on a back-to-back, Nashville. Tonight’s slate offers value across the board and, more specifically, in the prime matchups, offering an ounce of creativity in the GPP tournaments.

The currently live top-three highest implied team totals are New Jersey with 4.3, Carolina with 4.1, and Dallas with 4. I will do my best to guide you through this twelve-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Alex Nedeljkovic - DK $7.1K || FD $7.2K

Opponent - Carolina Hurricanes

Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Alex Nedeljkovic returns for back-to-back article highlights. On Tuesday, he posted a 2.81 Goals Against Average, a 0.885 Save Percentage, and made 23 saves on 26 shots in a 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Islanders. If not for the Penguins imploding late in the game, Nedeljkovic could have made a case for ‘First Star’ of the night.

In his most recent five starts, he has a 2-1-2 record with a 2.32 Goals Against Average and a 0.910 Save Percentage. The Hurricanes are the fifth-best option for value in Shots Per Goal Per 60 on the slate. If Nedeljkovic can get in a groove early, he could break the slate. He is projected to make roughly 35 saves and concede four goals.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Shesterkin (DK $8.2K || FD $8K)
  • Bobrovsky (DK $7.9K || FD $7.8K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Jack Hughes - DK $7.7K || FD $6.5K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens are on the slate. I repeat, the Montreal Canadiens are on the slate! Look no further than center Jack Hughes of the New Jersey Devils to inflict damage in this prime home matchup. Hughes has two goals, one assist, 14 shots, and three blocked shots in his last five outings.

The Canadiens happen to be one of four teams out of 24 total teams playing tonight that has conceded 20 or more goals in their last five split games. In that time frame, Montreal is being outscored 21 to 15. In Per 60 stats, they are a bottom-five team in both Shots Against and High-Danger Chances Against, and they are the worst in both Scoring Chances Against and Goals Against. Due to the drop of form from Hughes, his salary has come down a few hundred dollars. This is the optimal time to take advantage of a ‘mispriced’ elite center in an elite matchup. Expect Hughes to produce three points, four shots, and one blocked shot.

Mika Zibanejad - DK $5.6K || FD $6.2K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

Mika Zibanejad is criminally underpriced, primarily due to his poor form with his old linemates. He now gets Artemi Panarin (DK $9.2K || FD $8.7K) and Alexis Lafrenière (DK $4.9K || FD $5K) on his line, with the two wingers a part of the original second line of the New York Rangers. In his first game with his newly formed line, he had three assists, three shots, and one blocked shot. In the five appearances prior, he had one goal, one assist, 11 shots, and two blocked shots.

Despite the Rangers' new second line having a slightly better line matchup, Mika Zibanejad’s salary and potential ceiling were hard to pass up mentioning. Buffalo is currently getting outscored 19 to 15 in their last five away games. They are also in the league's bottom half in Shots Against, High-Danger Chances Against, and Goals Against, all Per 60. Considering how ‘inexpensive’ the veteran center is, expect him to surpass value in this premium matchup quickly.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Rossi (DK $4.7K || FD $5.5K)
  • Cirelli (DK $4.8K || FD $6K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Jesper Bratt - DK $5.8K || FD $6K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Jesper Bratt is flying for the New Jersey Devils right now, with two goals, four assists, ten shots, and one blocked shot in his last five outings. His shot volume is concerning for those looking for a floor from the winger, but he has made up for that with his six points in five games.

As mentioned above and in every other article, Montreal is a bottom-of-the-league team defensively when they play. It will not be a matter of will but more of a matter of when Bratt and company start scoring.

Jack Roslovic - DK $4.3K || FD $5.3K

Opponent - Pittsburgh Penguins

The Carolina Hurricanes are projected to score four goals and take an estimated 40 shots. Winger Jack Roslovic has four goals and 16 shots in his last five performances, averaging three shots Per 60.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are a bottom-three team defensively in all meaningful metrics against Per 60. With plenty of prime spots and big names to pay up for, Roslovic punches above his weight class, offering the value needed to afford the higher-salaried players.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Guentzel (DK $7.5K || FD $6.8K)
  • Rodrigues (DK $3.6K || FD $4.2K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Shayne Gostisbehere - DK $5.3K || FD $5.9K

Opponent - Pittsburgh Penguins

Shayne Gostisbehere or ‘Ghost’, disappointed in a prime matchup, home, against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. He and the Hurricanes won 6-4, but Ghost did not register a single point. In his most recent five appearances, he now has three assists, seven shots, and three blocked shots.

Luckily, he is playing host to the Pittsburg Penguins tonight, a bottom-of-the-Eastern Conference team that concedes shots from the point like it's going out of style. The Penguins were mentioned above for their poor defensive efforts, and Gostisbehere will have numerous opportunities tonight to reach value. As a point-dependent defender, he does carry some risk; however, his potential ceiling far exceeds any concerns.

Luke Hughes - DK $3.7K || FD $4.2K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Luke Hughes is the value defender of the slate. He has registered five and three blocked shots in his last five games. His peripherals are very problematic, especially for Devils fans relying on him to carry most of the blueline offense.

Despite his woes, the youngest Hughes brother is in his best matchup of the season, home, against the Montreal Canadiens. The visitors do not need introduced. Their poor defensive metrics are known to the majority and Hughes running point on the second power-play unit for the Devils will offer him a way out of his early-season slump tonight.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Spurgeon (DK $3.8K || FD $4.5K)
  • Lindgren (DK $2.8K || FD $3.6K)
