Biggest Fantasy Football Busts Of The Week - Fantasy Outlooks For Amari Cooper, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Drake London, Kenneth Walker, D.J. Moore

Drake London - NFL, Fantasy football rankings, waiver wire, dfs

Several NFL players underwhelmed in Week 8 of the 2024 fantasy football season. Andersen Pickard identifies busts at each position and if they'll bounce back.

The eighth Sunday of the 2024 NFL season has come and gone. Hopefully, you woke up on Monday morning feeling very good about how your matchup went. However, this week's slate of games was certainly stress-inducing for many fantasy football managers.

Part of that stress was caused by a group of players who drastically underachieved in Week 8. These players simply did not meet fantasy expectations this week, and it cost their managers in a big way.

Let's take a look at the biggest busts from Week 8, as well as whether or not we can still have some trust in these players moving forward. All point totals are based on the PPR scoring system. Players who missed part of the game due to injury are exempt from being featured.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Fantasy Football Quarterback Busts

Geno Smith, 8.1 FPTS

For the first time this season, Smith finished a game without a touchdown. He also threw an interception and took a sack in the loss to Buffalo. He has been a solid fantasy QB1 this season, and although he was a bust on Sunday, he should bounce back as a startable quarterback next week versus the Rams.

Caleb Williams, 8.3 FPTS

Williams couldn't get much going against the Bears on Sunday, completing just 41.7 percent of his passes for 131 yards. He also rushed for 41 yards, lost a fumble, took two sacks, and converted a two-point conversion. He should bounce back as a fringe top-12 fantasy quarterback against the Cardinals in Week 9.

Fantasy Football Running Back Busts

Nick Chubb, 5.2 FPTS

Chubb wasn't able to replicate last week's impressive return, largely because he didn't score a touchdown. The former star running back saw a reduced role in Week 7 and faced a terrific Ravens run defense in Week 8, so we haven't exactly seen him yet in a "typical" matchup. The road doesn't get any easier heading into next weekend's clash with the Chargers. He'll remain an RB3/FLEX for the time being.

Kenneth Walker, 8.5 FPTS

Things could have gone a lot worse for Walker on Sunday, but seeing him total just 45 yards and zero touchdowns was disappointing. The Seahawks dug themselves into a massive deficit and had to abandon the rushing attack early on. Walker should bounce back as an RB1 in Week 9 versus the Rams.

Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Busts

Drake London, 7.4 FPTS

London has quietly been one of the top receivers in fantasy football, but his streak of double-digit fantasy performances ended at six games on Sunday. He should have no trouble bouncing back as a low-end WR1 next week against Dallas.

Amari Cooper, 1.3 FPTS

Cooper caught just one pass for three yards on Sunday. After his impressive Bills debut last week, he was somewhat of a non-factor this Sunday. On a positive note, the veteran saw his snap share increase against Seattle. He'll rank as a fantasy WR3 heading into Week 9 against Miami.

Michael Pittman Jr., 2.6 FPTS

It was another rough week for Pittman as he caught just one of six targets on Sunday afternoon. The Colts' receiver has the talent of a WR1 but continues to be held back by Anthony Richardson. Managers can justify benching him next week against a solid Vikings defense.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, 8.7 FPTS

8.7 fantasy points don't usually quantify a bust, but it was certainly a disappointing output from someone as dominant as St. Brown. He caught each of his two targets for seven yards, salvaging his fantasy showing with a touchdown catch. He's in a great position to bounce back as a WR1 versus Green Bay in Week 9.

DJ Moore, 5.4 FPTS

Moore had his worst game of the season, catching just two passes for 27 yards against the Commanders. He's in a great position to bounce back as a fringe top-12 fantasy receiver versus the Cardinals next week.

Jordan Addison, 4.2 FPTS

Addison expressed frustration on social media after catching just two passes for 22 yards on Thursday Night Football. He hasn't lived up to expectations this year, posting double-digit fantasy points (PPR) in just one of his five games. Fantasy managers can leave him on the bench in 10-team and even many 12-team leagues next week versus Indianapolis.

Tyler Lockett, 1.9 FPTS

Lockett caught just one pass for nine yards on Sunday. The veteran was expected to have a larger role this week with DK Metcalf (knee) out, but that clearly didn't happen. The 32-year-old is nothing more than a low-end WR3/FLEX ahead of Week 9 against the Rams.

Rashod Bateman, 3.8 FPTS

Bateman's streak of double-digit fantasy performances ended at three games. He caught just one of five targets in Sunday's upset loss to the Browns. He should be avoided heading into next week's game against the Broncos.

Demario Douglas, 3.2 FPTS

Douglas was held to just two catches on three targets for the second week in a row. This time, though, he couldn't blame his reduced production on an injury. The Patriots' slot receiver belongs on the bench in fantasy football next week.

Dontayvion Wicks, 3.1 FPTS

Wicks caught just two passes for 11 yards against the Jaguars on Sunday. The Packers have such a crowded receiver room, so it's not surprising to see one of their pass-catchers have a quiet day. He'll rank as a WR4 heading into Week 9 versus Detroit.

Keenan Allen, 5.9 FPTS

Allen caught just two of seven targets for 39 yards on Sunday afternoon. He was just another victim of the Bears' struggles in the passing game versus Washington. He has just one game with at least seven fantasy points (PPR) this season, which means he ranks outside the top 36 fantasy receivers for Week 9.

Fantasy Football Tight End Busts

Cole Kmet, 4.4 FPTS

Kmet was targeted just once on Sunday, turning in a 14-yard reception. He boosted his fantasy production with a two-point conversion. After his tremendous showing overseas two weeks ago, Kmet came back down to earth this Sunday. He's a high-end TE2 heading into Week 9 against Arizona.

Colby Parkinson, 3.7 FPTS

Parkinson caught each of his two targets for 17 yards on Thursday night. Unsurprisingly, he saw reduced volume with Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua back on the field. The Rams' tight end ranks outside the top 12 players at his position heading into Week 9.

Ja'Tavion Sanders, 1.7 FPTS

Sanders had caught 11 passes for 110 yards over the last two games, but he came back down to earth this Sunday with just one seven-yard reception. It's evident that the rookie has upside but is not yet a consistent fantasy performer. He's not a top-12 tight end heading into Week 9 against the Saints.
