NBA DFS Picks for Daily Fantasy Basketball on DraftKings and FanDuel (10/24/24)

Luka Doncic - NBA DFS, Fantasy Basketball Rankings

Free daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for today's slate on DraftKings and FanDuel. Use Koby’s NBA DFS expert picks to building winning DFS lineups on October 24th, 2024.

Welcome back, Rotoballers! Glad to be here helping you all out with your DFS picks on this fine Thursday. We have a solid four-game slate ahead of us tonight with a few teams who will be starting their season. These articles focus on the overall best plays, which are typically more suited for cash games. I will sprinkle in a few GPP plays however so keep an eye out for a few of those!

The key to being successful in NBA DFS comes down to making adjustments during the day as injury information becomes available. But it's always really important to have a game plan and the best players and spots circled first before making those adjustments. To keep up with all the latest developments and get access to updated projections, grab an NBA season pass and also gain access to our RotoBaller Premium Discord where @chiefjustice6 is talking about the slate up until lineups lock!

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/24/24. Remember to monitor NBA injury news and our awesome NBA injuries report tool, as the slate can completely change before lineups lock at 7:00 p.m. EST on FanDuel and DraftKings. Good luck RotoBallers!

Today's NBA DFS Core Picks

Let's take a look at our premium projections today and see what some of the top plays on the slate are!

One of the top plays on the slate is clearly Luka Doncic. He was one of the highest FPPG guys in the league last season and now gets an easy matchup, as the Spurs were one of the most vulnerable teams to opposing PGs last season. Luka is expensive, but as long as it doesn’t blow out, he will be one of the top guys on the slate.

Jaylen Brown came out guns blazing in Tuesday’s home opener. He finished with 35 fantasy points in only 29 minutes. He gets a great matchup again, against a Washington squad that gave up the most PPG to opposing SGs and the fourth-most steals.

Domantas Sabonis has played extremely well against Rudy Gobert in the past, averaging a double-double in the last seven meetings against him. As we saw the other night with Anthony Davis, Gobert is exploitable. Sabonis was one of the best Centers in the league last year, and I love that we get him at a discount compared to Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama.

  1. Luka Doncic, DAL vs SAS – PG ($11,100 DK; $11,900 FD)
  2. Jaylen Brown, BOS @ WAS – SG/SF ($8,200 DK; $8,200 FD)
  3. Domantas Sabonis, SAC vs MIN ($9,500 DK; $9,800 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Value Picks

Christian Braun should be stepping into a starting role this season with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope leaving for Orlando. Which should lead to some solid minutes and when given minutes he was lighting it up last season. So I was quite surprised to see Christian so cheap. It’s early in the season though so keep an eye on the news.

Harrison Barnes should see a solid role in this offense. He will likely be starting and should give the Spurs a solid three-point shooter to give some more room for Wemby to work. He was solid all around the court and we got him for a great price. He is one of the cheaper options on the slate and has decent boom potential.

Al Horford gets a great matchup against the Wizards who gave up the second most points per game to Centers as well as the most rebounds per game. Now Horford isn’t your traditional center but he still finished with 28 fantasy points in their win over the Knicks. Which is good for 5x his price, and I’ll gladly take that.

Top Value Plays:

  1. Christian Braun, DEN vs. OKC ($4,400 DK; $4,700 FD)
  2. Harrison Barnes, SAS vs DAL ($4,500 DK; $5,500 FD)
  3. Al Horford, BOS @ WAS ($5,200 DK; $5,500 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Point Guard

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is coming off an MVP-type performance season. I believe a lot of people will start their lineups with Luka so going to SGA could be a nice way to get off some ownership. SGA was a fantasy point monster averaging over 50 FP a game. Like Luka though, he is quite expensive.

Tre Jones is some great value, he will be coming off the bench behind Chris Paul but if this game starts to get out of hand they could hand it off to Jones to finish the night. I’m also not sold on Chris Paul going long minutes at 39 years old. Jones should continue to have a solid role in this offense.

Top PG Options:

  1. Luka Doncic, DAL vs SAS – PG ($11,100 DK; $11,900 FD)
  2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC @ DEN ($9,900 DK; $11,300 FD)
  3. Tre Jones, SAS vs DAL ($5,600 DK; $4,900 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Shooting Guard

Jordan Poole is a pure GPP play. Boston gave up 44 points between Jalen Brunson and Miles McBride. Poole finished the last season off playing well and now that Deni Avdija is gone, this should lead to Poole getting even more usage. If Washington can keep this even remotely close Poole could be in for a solid night.

Top SG Options:

  1. Jaylen Brown, BOS @ WAS – SG/SF ($8,200 DK; $8,200 FD)
  2. Jordan Poole, WAS vs. BOS  ($7,400 DK; $6,500 FD)
  3. Christian Braun, DEN vs. OKC ($4,400 DK; $4,700 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Small Forward

As you can tell I'm high on Boston players and likely will be a big stack. Tatum finished game one of the season with 62 fantasy points in only 30 minutes of play. He now goes up against a Wizards team that has given up the most fantasy points to SFs and second most to PFs. Setting up Tatum to be in prime position for another monster game.

I'm going back to Donte for today's slate as he is still at a decent price and I think he will play better against the Kings than he did against the Lakers. He still finished with 23 FP but with playing 31 minutes, he definitely can do better. Seeing that he is getting good minutes is encouraging for future games.

Top SF Options:

  1. Jayson Tatum, BOS @ WAS ($9,300 DK; $10,100 FD)
  2. Donte DiVincenzo, MIN @ SAC ($5,200 DK; $5,700 FD)
  3. Harrison Barnes, SAS vs DAL ($4,500 DK; $5,500 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Power Forward

Julius Randle had a solid first outing with his new team finishing with 31 FP. The Lakers and Kings were both similar when it came to allowing FP to opposing PFs. Also, they allowed the third most PPG to PFs as well setting up Julius Randle to have a solid night.

Aaron Gordon has been quite serviceable and now has a massive contract in the bag. Gordon averaged 30 FPPG last season and I would expect that to continue. Over the last ten games against the Thunder he has averaged 15.8 PPG, 7.5 RPG, and over 2.1 STOCKS per game.

Zach Collins is a nice, cheap GPP play. Last season, the Mavericks gave up the eighth most fantasy points to opposing PFs. He should see decent minutes with the second unit. He averaged 23.7 FPPG last season, and if we get in that 25 FP range, I'll call it a win.

Top PF Options:

  1. Julius Randle, MIN @ SAC ($7,800 DK; $7,300 FD)
  2. Aaron Gordon, DEN vs OKC ($6,100 DK; $6,300 FD)
  3. Zach Collins, SAS vs DAL ($5,000 DK; $5,5oo FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Center

I think I would be doing y’all a disservice if I didn’t mention the MVP Nikola Jokic. If you are looking to spend up at the center position, then look no further. OKC gave up the second most rebounds per game last season to opposing Centers. With Isaiah Hartenstein still out they won’t have that defensive anchor to hold Jokic from scoring not that many can.

Top C Options:

  1. Nikola Jokic, DEN vs OKC ($11,000 DK; $11,700 FD)
  2. Domantas Sabonis, SAC vs MIN ($9,500 DK; $9,800 FD)
  3. Al Horford, BOS @ WAS ($5,200 DK; $5,500 FD)

Today's Top NBA DFS Game Stacks

  1. Celtics @ Wizards (233 O/U) - Boston side!
  2. Timberwolves @ Kings (226.5 O/U)

Today's Top NBA DFS Avoids

The only team I'm avoiding for the most part is the Wizards. I like a little Jordan Poole in GPPs but I want to see how the rotation plays out before having too much of them in my lineups, especially against the Celtics. I will also be a little light on the Thunder/Nuggets game as that could end up being defensive-heavy.

My Favorite NBA DFS Picks for Today

Here is where I leave you with some of my favorites.

  • My favorite overall play on the slate: Domantas Sabonis
  • My favorite CASH play on the slate: Luka Doncic
  • My favorite GPP play on the slate: Julius Randle
  • My favorite value play: Christian Braun
