Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Top College Fantasy Football Players Week 2 (2024)

Mike Marteny takes a look at 2024 breakout collegiate stars who will be available in your fantasy football dynasty drafts within the next year or two. Who shined in Week 2 of the 2024 season?

Welcome back to another season of Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch, where I highlight the best and brightest performances from the college football week that was. We had some huge performances in Week 2. Will any of these guys wind up in your fantasy football drafts? Most of them will!

We will introduce you to these college players earlier than many of your fantasy football league mates. We here at RotoBaller are all about giving you an advantage. If you had paid attention to this column last year, you would have known about Kimani Vidal and Xavier Worthy long before their performances at the NFL Combine.

I will highlight one quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end every week of the college season who put up some really big numbers. I'll let you know what it means for your dynasty leagues. Do these guys have NFL futures? You'll find out!

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Quarterbacks

Cade Klubnik, Clemson (24-26, 378 yards, 5 TD; 2 carries, 5 yards, 2 TD) vs. Appalachian State

Klubnik easily had the best game of his career and he did it all in one half! Clemson was up so big at halftime that it didn't even put the starters back in at the start of the second half.

Klubnik has been the next big thing at Clemson since the fan base (or Dabo Swinney, depending on who you listen to) chased DJ Uiagalelei to the West Coast. At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, he's built like a quarterback. He has a good arm, but he has been plagued by poor decision-making throughout his career so far. Can he get away from that against good teams?

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Running Backs

Cam Skattebo, Arizona State (33 carries, 262 yards; 3 receptions, 21 yards) vs. Mississippi State

The only knock against Skattebo was that he didn't find the end zone. He did everything else, though. He runs tough and isn't afraid of contact. Skattebo is a faster Mike Alstott.

Skattebo isn't your normal bruiser at only 5-foot-11, but he is 215 pounds of pure muscle. NFL scouts will love that he doesn't shy away from contact, takes care of the ball, and has good hands. He'll be a back in the NFL, even if it is only on third downs or short-yardage situations.

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Wide Receivers

Mac Dalena, Fresno State (7 receptions, 235 yards, TD) vs. Sacramento State

Dalena only had 755 receiving yards in three seasons before this big game, so it did come out of nowhere. He had a solid game against Michigan to open the season, but it appears as though Dalena may take over Josh Kelly's role this year.

Dalena isn't a burner, nor is he very big. However, he does have good hands and has improved his route running every year of his career. His football IQ may get him a spot on an NFL roster, but he's going to need more games like this to be taken seriously and get invited to the NFL Combine.

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Tight Ends

Harold Fannin Jr., Bowling Green (11 receptions, 137 yards, TD) vs. Penn State

For those of you who enjoy MACtion in October and early November, you know who Fannin is already. He could have left via the portal for a better gig, but he stuck around at Bowling Green.

At 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, he's a little light for an NFL tight end. However, he's a capable blocker, runs tough, has good speed in the open field, and is hard to bring down. He would be a second-day pick if he were to declare after this year. With another good season, he may even move into the first round.
