Sam Darnold Solid In Vikings Preseason Debut

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold debuted with his new team against the Las Vegas Raiders, putting up 59 yards on four of eight passing in his one and only drive to start the game. He was up-and-down, though mostly reliable in his lone drive as he was hampered by two Ty Chandler drops. The 27-year-old couldn't lead the Vikings to any points. However, he was 0-for-2 passing on third- and fourth-down within the Raiders' 10-yard line. Darnold's day was not exactly inspiring, though he likely did not lose his starting role with his performance on Saturday. Darnold will likely enter next week as the unquestioned starter for the Vikings -- but he may have to stave off rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy after his explosive day.
