Top Candidates To Dethrone Josh Allen As The QB1 In Dynasty Fantasy Football

C.J. Stroud - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Mike Fanelli analyzes three fantasy football quarterbacks who could be strong candidates to dethrone Josh Allen as the QB1 in dynasty in 2024.

Dynasty fantasy football has become more popular over the past decade. While having an elite quarterback is more important in the NFL than fantasy football, it’s nice to have one of the top passers in the game.

Josh Allen has been the QB1 in dynasty leagues for the past few years. However, his time as the top quarterback in fantasy football could be coming to an end.

Let’s look at three quarterbacks who could replace Allen as the dynasty QB1 in 2024.

Patrick Mahomes

While Mahomes is considered the top passer on the field, he hasn’t always been the top fantasy quarterback. Last year, the superstar was the QB8, averaging 17.5 fantasy points per game. He had 27 passing touchdowns, one of the lowest totals of his career. However, Mahomes has a significant chance to replace Allen as the QB1 in 2024 after the Kansas City Chiefs added Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown to his receiving core.

Jalen Hurts

Hurts isn’t an elite passer like Allen and Mahomes. However, the star quarterback is a cheat code for fantasy players because of his rushing abilities. He has had at least 600 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns every year of his career as the starting quarterback. Furthermore, Hurts had 15 rushing touchdowns in 2023, matching Allen for the second-most in the NFL. While the addition of Saquon Barkley will cut into his touchdown production, Hurts should have double-digit scores again this season.

C.J. Stroud

The former Ohio State star had arguably the best rookie season by a quarterback in NFL history. Stroud was the QB9, averaging 18.4 fantasy points per game. Yet, the star quarterback has room to grow after finishing 13th in passing touchdowns (23) last year. The Houston Texans have two talented young receivers – Nico Collins and Tank Dell. Yet, that didn’t stop them from acquiring Stefon Diggs this offseason. Stroud has the receiving core needed to finish as the QB1 in 2024 and for many years to come.
