Fantasy Football Quarterback Sleepers in Superflex Dynasty Leagues

Sam Howell - Fantasy Football Rankings, DFS Lineup Picks, NFL Injury News

These four fantasy football quarterbacks offer value at their cost heading into the 2024 NFL season in Superflex dynasty leagues. Consider drafting them for your team.

Rookie draft season is in full swing for fantasy football dynasty leagues as minicamps begin across the league. In Superflex dynasty leagues, no position is more important than quarterback. If your team is anywhere close to competing, you should always aim to have three capable quarterbacks ready to roll.

Acquiring a quarterback is not an easy feat in Superflex dynasty formats given their longevity; given the fact that they typically score more points than other positions and the overall scarcity of the position. Franchise quarterbacks like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes are amongst the most difficult players to acquire in Superflex dynasty leagues.

Each season, new quarterbacks emerge and see their values rise. Just last season, Jordan Love and C.J. Stroud both saw their values drastically rise as they became much more difficult to acquire. None of the guys in this article have a Love or Stroud-like ceiling, but these four quarterbacks are sleepers for 2024 and beyond that can be acquired very easily at this time.

Editor's Note: The FFPC Playoff Challenge is back with a massive $500,000 grand prize and $1.35 million total prize pool, paying down to 800th place. Here's the deal: no salary cap, no draft, no pickups, no subs. Choose 10 players, and as NFL teams get knocked out so will your players, so choose your team wisely. The 7,250 entries will sell out quickly, and registrations will close on Saturday January 10th at 4:30 pm ET . Don't wait - get your team now and end your fantasy football season with a shot at $500,000! Sign Up Now!

Sam Howell, Seattle Seahawks

Sam Howell was traded to Seattle after just one season under center in Washington. The third-year quarterback displayed a gunslinger mentality, passing for 3,946 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. He also held rushing upside as he scrambled for 263 yards and five touchdowns.

With all of the injuries at the position, Howell finished as a QB1 in fantasy last season. However, he is now relegated to backup duties in Seattle behind incumbent starter Geno Smith.

Now is the time to pounce on Howell. While it’s unlikely that he will open the season as the starter, this is a new regime in Seattle that has no allegiance to the 33-year-old Smith. Smith also regressed after his magical 2022 season, and poor play could easily see him yanked in favor of the younger Howell.

Seattle is an attractive landing spot for Howell. New offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb ran an efficient air-raid offense at Washington that saw Michael Penix Jr. lead the nation in passing yards. The receiving corps of D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba is one of the best in the league. Howell may not be the long-term answer in Seattle, but he will have a chance to prove that he can be and is currently priced as a backup quarterback. Go get him now.

Spencer Rattler, New Orleans Saints

South Carolina’s Spencer Rattler tumbled down the draft board to Round 5 after the early quarterback run came to an end. Rattler was seen by many as a Day 2 pick but ended up landing in New Orleans on Day 3.

The rookie Rattler is routinely going in the third round of rookie drafts -- a very cheap price to pay for a quarterback that could easily find himself under center sooner rather than later. Let’s not forget that Rattler was once considered a future No. 1 overall pick before he lost his starting job at Oklahoma to Caleb Williams.

He has demonstrated a cannon arm, leadership, and play-extension qualities that are desired by NFL teams. Derek Carr is the starter in New Orleans for the time being, but he has been extremely underwhelming. Dennis Allen knows his job is on the line this season and if Carr isn’t getting it done, why not turn to the rookie?

Acquire Rattler and place him on your taxi squad. Even if it isn’t this season, he will get a chance to lead this Saints team. The price is too low to not stash him.

Gardner Minshew II, Las Vegas Raiders

Gardner Minshew is currently the cheapest projected starting quarterback in dynasty. While he hasn’t officially been named the starter over Aidan O'Connell -- who led this team under Antonio Pierce a season ago -- he is both more experienced, talented, and ultimately gives the Raiders the best chance to win football games.

Minshew has finished as a QB2 in both seasons that he has started for the majority of the year (2019 with Jacksonville and in 2023 with Indianapolis) and now has a very exciting group of pass-catchers in Davante Adams, Brock Bowers, Jakobi Meyers, and Michael Mayer.

He will put up quality numbers from a fantasy perspective and while he isn’t locked in as the long-term starter in Las Vegas, he will produce this season and potentially beyond.

Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers

Justin Fields is the quarterback that everyone is excited about in Pittsburgh, and from a dynasty perspective, he is also a prime target as his value is likely at its floor right now. However, Russell Wilson will be the starter in Pittsburgh this season. While he is no longer in his prime, he is still capable of stringing together solid fantasy performances.

Wilson was a high-end QB2 in Denver. While his time there was seen as a bust, he actually played better than the Broncos’ record would indicate. Now paired with Mike Tomlin and Arthur Smith in Pittsburgh, a late-career resurgence is entirely possible.

Everybody has written off Wilson with Fields behind him, but is there really enough reason to do so? Given his age and decline, he is very cheap and is absolutely worth taking a shot at as your QB3 for 2024.
